Cat Gathering Aug 28th

Sorry guys for not getting to the meet. But blow the motor on my van and had to go car shopping Saturday. Hope to here somemore about the gathering.

Troutman and I picked up 12lb and 8lb flatheads. We also went on a "rescue" mission. We set up next to a shallow creek on a sand bar. Occasionally we would hear splashing in the creek. After a couple of fruitless attempts to find the source of the splashing, we finally found it. A little 2-3lb channel was stuck in the shallow 2" water on the other side of the creek so we got him out and plopped him in the river. This same thing happened to a northern pike and later a sunfish. They were all "rescued" and released into the river to grow or become catfish bait.
As you can see we had lots of fun, and the rescue missions kept the night interesting.
BTW Rob you picked a perfect night to hold this gathering on, hats off to ya.!

Me and the boys didn't do well from shore. I did get to feel one before it got snagged up in something under the bridge. Had a few other short runs. Had a great time chatting with Tom (Muskie Duckling) while the Scouts played king of the hill in the sand.

It was a good turnout.

It was nice to put some faces with some of the fellas online. As Rob indicated, "we" caught two, but did have several other short runs-more action than I have had all summer in one night-so that was nice. You all know where to find me this upcomming weekend-

The two fellas from Iowa who's names are long lost-they got a 32# right by us.

We did stay the night. I did more sleeping than anything and finally got Rushing to do his fair share of the work tending to the lines. Woke at around 8 am and we pulled off-

Papa, thanks for the ride-those Riverpros are really something! Also, the sandbar on the landing seemed to be pretty much gone when we came in, I assume that we have you to thank for that!

I'm still kicking myself for not making it out. Sounds like you guys had a great time. Everytime I went outside to smoke and on the way home from the B-day party. All I could do was stare at the beautiful clear sky, imagining myself on the river, next to a campfire, throwing back a few cold ones, BSing with the boys and waiting for the clicker.

Well at least your guys had a great time and mybe I can make it out to the catgathering on ice this year.

As JTK15 said we caught a 32# and also a 6 # flatty all around about 11:00 that night after that it was very slow. thanks Rob had a great time meeting everyone for the first time. Also would like to thank papa grump for the boat ride now you got me hooked on a River Pro

Momma was gone so I did my best to keep them happy. They're pretty young yet.

I also want to thank Rob and anyone else responsible for the cat gathering.Had a good time meeting fellow catters and swapping lies!I,m the other guy from Iowa with Stam34 and his jonboat. Bob caught both of the fish Sat. night,but it still is always fun to watch when the fight is on. Hopefully next time,I'll get the monster! This is my first post so hopefully it works. Sounds like you all had a blast! Part of my fishing enjoyment is the company of nice guys (and the occasional gal), getting to know more about them, sharing knowledge, or lack thereof. Wish I coulda made it.
