What time was everyone thinking of meeting up? I know 2PM, but till when? Before everyone starts going to their spots? Cause I was just told by the mrs that I have family stuff. Hoping to get down there later in the evening.

Mr. Special,

I am up in the air as I have some softball obligation going on. If that falls through, I will probably be up river camping on a Sandbar Friday night. If that dont, then would probably be lucky if I get over there after dinner if at all.

I don't have a boat so I will fish from the bank, but should I bring bait or will there be some there? I have some of the basic catfish gear but nothing special so I am hoping to learn more about what to use. Also is the landing a good area for cats, because I was thinking about bringing my buddy and he wants to catch a catfish. I am really getting excited and can't wait to meet up with some fellow FM'rs!!!!

GOOD FISHIN!!!!!!!

I dont know about bait, I know that Rushing often goes out and gets bullheads. As I indicated, Hermies has suckers-small and large for sale, less than a half mile from the campground/access.

Also, there are quite a few spots that you can fish between Mankato and St. Peter-the ten mile of strech offers some rock bars, seven mile has a big sand bar, south seven mile there is a huge sand bar that is just off the road and- at the campground and public access there are several big holes that you can fish pretty easy from shore.

If your looking to get in a more virgin spot, I would guess one of the boat owners would have no problem getting you to a spot....The only problem would be your at their graces to get back from some of the spots.

On the East side of the river their is also a huge sandbar that is just off a rode-Rushing may have figured out how to get there-he was planning on doing so after work one of these days.

I'll be there for sure. Not sure whether it will be Friday night or Saturday morning yet. I'll have the boat and an empty seat. Anyone want to hook up early saturday morning? Also - anyone know if there is some good bully fishing in the area? It would be nice to catch some bait in the morning and cats in the afternoon :-)

Also looking for cat teachers, and I'm sure there will be plenty of you there!

Billjr I'd stay with a small boat if you have one. The water in the immediate area around the ramp is fairly deep, from the sand bar upstream to maybe 1/4 mile downstream of the bridge. After that it gets a little shallow for a big boat. Hope to see ya there. smile.gif

Yeah I think you should stay with a smaller boat. We launched out of it a couple of weekends ago and there was a sand hump that you had to get over. No big deal just kinda a pain.

There is no way your getting a 16-18ft boat with a motor that big in if that sand bar is still sitting right in front of the access-not a chance. I would leave the biggy at home. I am considering just leaving my 14ft with a 15 horse home-the lauch is good if the sand is out, but going upstream gets a little hairy with the sand, snags, and current. I really dont like that strech via boat. It definately has great shore spots right by the launch though.

Does anyone have a rough idea of head-count for this? I'm starting to debate if I should bring the boat (15' bluefin w/28hp) judging from the opins of the water. Right now I plan to bring it, unless someone lets me know that it for sure will not float.

Almost sounds like I should go buy waders :-)

Hope to see you all there. (Look for a red four door F250).

After a long talk with the miss about family values, I will not make this event. For some reason just because I'm related to someone she thinks I should be at their Golden B-Day party. Luckyfish thanks for the invite again. But you kids go have a great time and show me some pictures.

Bad news all. I won't be able to make it up this week. Spent $500.00 just to keep the old pickup running. That cut into my hunten and fishing funds big time. Iam trying to find away to get the sinkers up to you all. Nightwolf maybe heading up that way.

Mr Special and Dragon sorry to hear you won't make it. But things happen. Hope to see you guys at the next one whether it be this year or next. I myself may be a little late. Hope to be there by 4:00. See ya all there.
