Zercom flasher?

I have the LCF-40 and i like it a lot. It is easy to read and its really accurate. It's black and white so you dont have to worry about all the other colors. I think they are a good flasher for the price of them. I hope this helps you out.

I have a Zercom Colorpoint flasher. Have had it for a number of years now. It works great. I haven't even had to replace the battery. It is a little louder than the newer models, and it doesn't have an interference filter so once in a while I will get some interference on the dial, but other than that it has been a great unit. One concern would be the fact that I don't think they make them anymore, at least I haven't seen a Zercom brand anything for quite a while so repairs may be an issue.

They are ok. Like others said, they are no longer made and service may be problem. I fished with a clearwater classic a few times about a decade ago and thought it was a very good unit at the time.

If you plan on fishing weeds, they can be a problem seeing your presentation. They may also have interference issues with some other units.

If you can spend a bit more money, you would be better served by picking up a Marcum or a Vexilar, IMO.

I had a LCF40 for a couple of years. It was a nice little unit and worked perfectly when fishing alone. It had enough power to shoot through the ice which was nice. Like others have mentioned, it has interference issues so I upgraded to a Marcum. I gave it to someone else and he can't use it at all when I have my Marcum on or someone else has there FL-18 turned while fishing together.

I had the Zercom Colorpoint as well and loved it. A few problems I had were that it does spin a little louder then the Vex and there is no Interference Rejecter (IR). I may be wrong but I though Marcum bought them out since they use the same three colors but like I said, I'm not sure. The best thing I liked about it were the lines of resolution. Very fine, thin lines compared to the Vex where one fish shows up as a much fatter red line.

I use a Zercom Colorpoint and I like it. When I bought mine I could have purchased a Vexilar FL8 or the Colorpoint. Those were the only two color flashers then. The only issues that I have had so far is the battery finally died this year and the interference from other Vexilar's in the same portable. I don't get interference from them if they are about 10' away.

One thing that I didn't like about them right away was the transducer holder. I got rid of that and bought a foam float for a Vexilar. It even fits inside the soft case. I also picked up a Vexilar battery gauge and just stuck that to the battery with velcro.

If I were to buy one used I wouldn't pay more than $125 for it. You can get a Vexilar FL8 for about $150 used and it is a better graph just because of the IR button.

That was about the time I bought my Colorpoint as well. The reason I was sold on Colorpoint was it had a nice carrying case where Vex just had the bluebox. Wow. Have times changed! smile.gif

The Colorpoint worked great and caught me lots of fish. The one downfall was it picked up a lot of interference from other flashers and you couldn't tune it out. I sold it a few years back and is probably providing the gentleman that bought it from me lots of enjoyment.

I think you would be disappointed if you buy that Zercom. They are OLD technology and some units can be very undependable. My brother in law had one back in the day when I had a FL8. The FL8 was a much better machine back then. Unless you do not fish much and get the Colorpoint for $20, I wouldn't buy it.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
