O.K., I'll start out by saying I want to go. I wanna I wanna. The FishinLogician is NOT going to be going(there goes my car and water ride). Also, I am (knock on wood) about to get a new job, and don't know what that might mean in terms of my ability(or lack thereof) to get away for the weekend. Having said that, I guess my first question is: Does anybody have a open seat for the bunni?
Second question: Who's coming up from the cities that may have an extra spot in the car/truck? Of course, I am more than willing to pay for gas, beverages, etc.
I'll cross the job bridge when I get to it.
There ya have it.

Bunni,

I'll be heading up there and I think I'll have a seat available. I think I'm just going to be fishing from shore for this one. Cootz was talking about bringing his boat and possibly truck camper. Wiskers is my brother so I plan on crashing at his house, probably just throw up a tent or something in his back yard who knows. It's over a month away. I'm sure we can work something out though.

Ahhh, peer pressure. That's what I was hoping for.

Um...yup. Marked off on the calendar boys. We'll work out the details as they appear.

Sweet!

Thanks.

Ok I'm a newbie to this whole board but I saw this post and couldn't pass it up. I grew up in Rockford so I fished the Crow River for like carp and bullheads but never got to fish for cats I just got to watch my parents land them but never have had the opportunity to land me a nice sized catfish! I would like to be able to go but I don't have a boat and probably don't have the right tackle or fishing pole! So would anyone be willing to take me in and help me out?

Rookie... Of course.. just show up and you will be taken care of.. Many people will show up with out boats. My goal is to get as many people fishing off shore and in boats as we can.. I have a lot of equipment so getting you the right rigs will be no problem.

Welcome aboard Rookie.. Looking forward to seeing you here.. I will put you on the list..

Lines tight....................

Fence? What fence? I don't see a fence. smile.gif
You should really try to make it.Cat guys have more fun!!

What river are you talking about.
I have seen muskies in the MN river.I had one to shore on the MN River about ten years ago that had to go well over 20lbs.
Never got a pic and never touched the fish but I did have her right on shore but could not reach to land the fish.I was standing on a sand bar that was giving away and just couldn't reach her. After resting quietly in just a few inches of water, she finally gave one more effort to throw the hook and did.She just slipped away after that.

Ya Ya another fish story....but true! smile.gif

Hanson, Those Muskies are caught here and there in the Red river watershed, but are a pretty unusual sight to see. I've caught 1 small Musky icefishing, 1 about 3 foot trolling in the fall near Drayton, and have seen 2 others caught below the old Riverside dam in GFKS in my 20+ years of fishing on the Red. Heard of a few more too. Whiskers had posted a picture of a pretty nice one caught by some kid at the Crookston dam some time ago, like 44 inches or somewheres around there iffin I remember right.

I don't think to many folks target them, maybe if folks that know river Musky fishing really well gave it a go we'd hear of more?

Yeppers that makes 3 Skis that I know of.. One two summers ago that was around 24#, Mine this winter that was about 7-8#, and this last one that was 19.5#...

The river has went up 0ver 9 feet with all the rain.. It is at almost 18 feet now.. Flood stage is 20 feet.. A few cats are still being caught right below the dam off to the side.. If your gonna go after cats and Eyes, hit the flooded woods..

This weekend is going to be a tough sell for getting onto cats.. Booked full...Man talk about bad timeing..

Hey everybody, I'm still on the fence here if I'm going to be able to make it. Trying to get it to work out but we'll have to see.

Thought I'd throw an update on here as to how the fishing has been. My brother has been fishing the river just about every night the last few weeks and has been doing very well. The walleyes are biting good for him and one of his buddies landed a 19 lb musky the other night. There aren't supposed to be any Muskies in the river but this is the 2nd or 3rd I've heard about in the last year!

We also received 3+ inches of rain this weekend and the river has risen way up to flood level again. It won't take long for the levels to recede but this rain is just getting crazy!

Sounds like we are getting a pretty big list of guys, that's great. Hopefully it will stop raining long enough for some of the water to go down.only a little over a month left to go.

Buzz,

we'll find a seat for you don't worry about that.

Wiskers,

Finally got my work schedule for the next month and the 10th of July is open for me. I'll be there. I already see that I'm included on the list so it looks like I was going to be there regardless wink.gif Sounds like its going to be a great time. Hopefully I'll be able to catch my 1st Catfish! Any 47 pounders like Dennis's hiding in the Red Lake River?

Yeppers.. 46# and up.. I got a 46#er two summers ago.. of course it was a snapping turtle.. LOL... We are getting some 10#-18#ers here every now and then..

The wate is going down again and fishing in the dam was pretty good over the weekend. Had some clients out and filled out on sat. Down river was real tough but in the dam it was good.. some Eyes too..

I'm talking this over with my better half as I write. Of course, I wanna make this trip, but not really sure it's going to happen.

I'd also really wonder about whether or not I'd find myself at the Northland on Friday and Saturday night. I'd much rather be down on the river while the cats are itchy.

If I show up, I show up. If not, good luck to ya' all. Sounds like a great time!

It's getting closer, and I hope you have less water up there then we have down here. I haven't been on the river in a while, I think my little jonboat is just a little bit too small to be putting it in the MN at this water level. I guess I'll just have to do some lake fishing.
