Slush Removers

Boar

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used those sluch remover thingys that you insert into you ice hole an it suppose to pretty much lift out most of the bulk of slush after drilling. I fish with ten inch pvc pipe through my camper with abut a foot an a half of dead air space an its very time consuming with a standard ice scoop. Those large yellow scoop an hockey stick handle things look cool to use for the length. What do you guys think, Later boar

the slush inhalers work very well, gets most of the slush out, you then just dip the remainder out easily and quickly. I usually reserve mine for later in the season when there is more ice to drill through

I have used one of the Slush Inhalers in my drop down fish house. The thing works great and is definitely faster than the ol' ice scoop.

Make sure you have a bucket to dump the slush into right away instead of walking to the door. Water will drip across your carpeted floor.

I definitely would recommend using one.

Regarding the large scoops they work OK but do not remove the slush as fast as the Slush Inhaler

I would not go without one in the permanent, drill the hole, then push all the sice shavings back into the hole and scoop most of it out in one shot, dump it in a 5 gallon pail, you are good to go. Also, it keeps the ice from building up in the house. I would have to say one of the more practical toys I have purchased. I also used in the the portable, who wants to be sitting out in -10 degree weather facing a 30 mph wind trying to scoop out the hole in a timely fashion. I know people that will let the auger do the work, but, then you have all the water to deal with. sometimes that makes it hard to remain in the upright position.

I've got 2...One thing I would suggest is modifying the top handle with a broomstick to prevent it from inadvertantly finding it's way to the bottom of the lake. Happened to me once. Great tool for the permanent & when the ice gets really thick.

In the past years, I've seen the Slush Inhalers at Cabelas. The Cabelas in East Grand Forks used to have them stacked up at the front door when you came in.

The one I have is not the Slush Inhaler brand name though. I received it as a Christmas present from my mom. smile.gif Apparently, a husband of one of the ladies she works with makes a home made version and she bought one. Looks and works just like the Slush Inhaler except it is made out of a PVC pipe. Its been one of the better presents I've ever received.

East Grand Forks may be a bit of a drive! grin.gif

I'll check on the Cabela's in town and see what's available, I also think I'm forwarding this message to my mom as a "hint hint hint"!

Thanks for the assist!

I would definitely agree with this. You still have to "fine tune" with a hand scooper, but it works very well.
