I went and visited the amsoil HSOforum and looked at applications. For "small 2 cycle utility engines" one of the two choices for oil is the interceptor....sabre is another choice. From what I gathered on their webpage, it specifically states to mix the interceptor at a ratio of 50:1.....I am no amsoil expert...just the information I read on the amsoil HSOforum.

I just picked up some Amsoil at Napa in Plymouth - they didn't have Saber but the guys said the Interceptor is a "step up." I have a 2hp Jiffy which I've run at 24:1 with regular 2-stroke the past few years, but will go 50:1 with the Amsoil (and I can use the same mix for all my other 2-strokes). I fired up the auger for the first time today with the new juice and it ran great, noticably cleaner.

The guys at the NAPA gave you poor information. Depending on what type of machine you have for which is the best choice. They apparantly don't stock the Saber Professional, so they wanted to sell you whichever they stock.

The best amsoil 2-cycle oil to use in all the 2-cycle pre-mix augers is the Saber Professional. amsoil gives you lubricant guarantee to use it at 100-1 mix ratio. However, many people are skeptical or even afraid to run it that lean. Because of this I recommend you start richer, say 80-1 or even 50-1. Even at 50-1 it is smokeless in most machines.

amsoil 2-cycle lubes are full synthetic, and a far superior lube to all petroleum based lubes - also they are ashless which means they burn clean leaving no carbon behind.

If you are using one of amsoil's other 2-cycle lubes - the mix ratios (max lean) are: Interceptor 50-1, Dominator 50-1, HP Injector 50-1, Saber Outboard 100-1.

Saber Professional is the best choice to use (product code ATP), but there is crossover between the products - the others will work.

To purchase you can go to my site, link below.

We ship from the closest regional distribution center - Superior, WI or Chicago, IL for most people here.

As your Fishing Minnesota AMSOIL sponsor, I hope to earn your AMSOIL business by providing the lubricant information you need. Yes, if you purchase online there is shipping/handling fee, but what does it cost in time, miles, etc. to have to go out to get it? Online direct can be the best value.

So what you are saying is that I shouldn't run Interceptor at 50:1 in my auger?

Update(if anyone cares) smile.gif:

Response from AMSOIL Technical Service:

"In response to your inquiry, either oil can be used. The difference is that the Interceptor oil should be mixed at up to 50:1 ratio while the Sabre Professional can be mixed at up to 100:1 ratio."
