Hook it up in the fh and when you call to activate it tell them its in the bedroom or game room...

They may not even care. There is some txt regarding RV's and special froms etc. When I aded one to my father in laws rv I said it was going in an RV and they didnt care. Happy to have the extra $5.

I told them it is used in an RV, they seem to grasp that concept. grin.gif The easiest way to set it up requires the following. 1) "roof" connnection plate (see fish house supply) 2)~50 ft digital capable Coax, 3) roof top tripod, 4) short piece of tubing. 4) torpedo level and compass (keep with dish) I like putting the dish on the tripod 'cuz then you dont have to worry about the orientation of your fish house. good luck--best place ever to watch the super bowl is in the fish house.

Is there a trick to getting the direction of the antenna right or is just moving it until you start recieving a signal? or a websight to go to and locate direction from what lake you are on. Could be the best way looking at someones home and getting a basic direction?

You can enter your Zip code into one of your Satellite receivers and get the correct Azimuth and Elevation, depending on how far you are traveling the elevation should not change much from your home dish setup so it's just a matter of panning side to side until you get a signal.

I think Dishnetworks main satellite is SouthEast so if your Dish is stable, level and you have the correct Elevation set along with a compass to get you close you should be able to do it, you could practice getting a signal at home on your mobile dish before hitting the lake.

I just use a flat piece plywood here is my new one for this year.

Thank Pierbridge,

Great tips I will be firing up the bandsaw and making a foundation. If you own your own dish box do they still charge you the extra 5 bucks or is that just for the rental of the extra box?

I just upgraded my home dish to HDDish. With that upgrade I now have an extra reciever and Dish. I was going to put it in the shack this year. My plan was just to take my memory card from the bedroom reciever and use it fish house reciever. Then I wouldn't have to pay the extra $5 a month, right? One problem though, the guy who came and installed the new HD Dish took the eyes from my old dish. He said they had to be brought back to Dish network, never heard of that? Usually they just leave the other dish alone.

The little cards are tied to the reciever you activated them in. You cant take a card out of one reciever and put it into another, well you can but it wont work.

I do believe even if you own the reciever they willl charge you the extra $5 for another room, you will also more than likely have to order a new card from the after you call and they will charge you $20 to send it out.

To be safe I would call them and get the ball rolling as it may take a few days or a week to get service.

Not sure Biggerfisher I have a bundled package and with all the specials they were giving out and rebates I might have to wait for my first bill to figure it out although they threw dish in for free for the first year and then after that I pay market rate so who no's

I have directtv and I pull the one from my bedroom and put in it my shack.(I would rather watch tv on the ice then in my bedroom) I bought a sat finder on hsolist and it take three seconds to find a sat it so easy. you can also buy a second dish on hsolist too

I'm an ex Dish installer. Getting the post that holds your dish level and perpendicular to the ground is the most important part to getting your sat. tuned in. Otherwise you may not get both Sats. And remember that your Dish should just be pointing west of south.

Regards,

Paul

I have a Honda 2000 and powered my fishhouse and my buddies house. It handled two 13" color TVs, 2 sets of 48" flourecent shop lights and a microwave for some popcorn all at the same time. She grunted a bit when the microwave kicked in but had no problem. The dish box draws about 35 watts.

you should be able to take your box from home and use it while fishing. but what ever the case you will want a secure post for your anntena pointed just right to the south west. the tri pods are handy but not stable in heavy wind conditions. I use plastic pvc pipe.fits perfect. few bucks at local hardware store. works fine nation wide grin.gif

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
    • Chef boyardee pizza from the box!
