lunker651
I shot this buck yesterday morning around 8:15 am. This is my first year hunting with a smokepole. The buck came in running, I first saw it about 60 yards away and stop at 30 yards gave me quarter toward shot. I aimed right at the middle of the of the chest and boom. Smoke was everywhere, I couldn't see what happen to the buck, after the smoke clears I can see my buck laying 30 yards from me. I thought it was dead so I didn't reload, my mistake, after about 5-6 mins the buck started moveing and I thought to my self "oh sh*t". Trying to reload my muzzleloader, fumbling, looking for my powders and bullet took forever, put my hands in every pocket I had on my coat, finally found it was in my inside pocket. as I was loading I saw the buck try to get up and he kept stumbling after getting up. After the the third time he try tp get up, I had my muzzy loaded aim and fire hitting the buck right behind the shoulder. The buck stop moving and I got down to take a look at it. At first I didn't know it was 10 pointer as it came too quickly that I didn't have time to count the tines but I know for sure the main bean was pretty big. Looking at my first shot it hit high of where I was aiming and hit the neck. Thinking to myself, "Finally my first big buck and did it with a muzzleoader." Here's a pic.... Borch
Congrats on a dandy muzzleloader buck! As you muzzleload for a while you'll learn to keep those reloaders where you know you can find them quick. It all worked out pretty well for you though.
