Shot the new Mathews Drenaline today!

I didn't think they could improve on the Switchback XT but I was wrong. This new bow is lighter, quieter, and just as smooth. All I can say is wow! If you live in western MN stop in at DJ's in Monte and try it out. You won't be disappointed.

Yup, I just happen to be at the Fargo Scheels store at the right time. They just got it out of the box and allowed me the chance to be the first one to shoot it. My thoughts:

The first thing I noticed was how much it weighed, or should I say....didn’t weigh. It would be a nice bow if your into long stocks or need to hike miles to your hunting grounds...every pound counts.

The next thing I noticed was how smooth it was on the draw.....just as good as the XT in my opinion.

I also seemed much faster than my XT...(which I last tested mine to be around 292fps)...I have heard numbers being thrown around on the Matthews and AT site of 310fps or so...with arrows under 400grains.....which would be plenty fast.

It also seemed to have very little hand shock or vibration....which I was surprised due to its weight...thinking it would jump around...but it didn’t.

The salesperson said they would be selling for about 800.00. This is the point in which reality set in. It’s a very nice bow....would love to have one...but momma isn’t going to open the bank for this toy.....especially when I have an XT hanging in the basement.

Just my two cents.

Cliffy.

I would love to buy a new bow but,my MQ1 is still shooting plenty of deer.I am sure it is a very nice bow but my MQ1 even though its getting a few years old is still doing what it is designed to do.

Some of these new bows are awesome for speed, smoothness, hand shock and they are very user friendly.

When the day comes to get another,Mathews will be the one I buy. smile.gif

Anyone seen the new Bowtech riser design? If you can understand their description, I'll award you an honorary PhD in Physics. But, anyway, it's supposed to increase stability in your hand and, as a result of that, provide better accuracy.

I do love my 2004 Liberty, though... Anyone shot a Guardian or Commander (the two new ones with the design)?

I guess I can't say if the shops have them yet. I just saw them on their HSOforum.

I agree - love it or hate it. Looks quite different to me. But, I'm convinced that bows are like golf clubs. To 95% of all shooters/players the equipment doesn't matter as much as the technique. You have to be awfully experienced to notice a performance difference between bows these days. Feel is a different topic. Shoot what feels right.

I was just out to Cabin Fever and also shot the Mathews Drenaline and like Koonie said WOW that bow is going to be a shooter lighter and faster than the XT. I did talk to Neil out there and he said the new Bowtech should be showing up some where in the middle of Dec.
