Question on gas tank issue

I have '03 polaris 700 xcsp and the gas tank leaks where the rubber seal and the hose goes in. It looks like a bad hole that was drilled on Friday. It looks like it was drilled at an angle slightly and it does not make a complete seal with the rubber piece.

I ordered another rubber piece and that did not help.I don't want to get a whole new tank -- what can I put on it to seal it up that gas will not break down?

Do you have a body shop in your area that has a plastic welder?

Can you drill it out a little bigger and use a bulkhead fitting??? Just a thought.

That is a good question. Who has a plastic welder? Like a body shop?

Do you think polaris should give me my $$ back on the tank? How can I convince them of that. It was poor workmanship thatled to the leaking gas tank.

If it's an 03 good luck getting any kind of compensation. The warrenty is long up.

I hear you, but when are you supposed to insepect your agas tank? When you find a problem It is a workmanship problem and that is what I will fight them on. The only chance I have, in my opinion, is that they seem to get a little shaky when it has to do with fuel issues -- as in -- BOOM!

So far I got the run-a-round.

Told to contact customer service, then they told me to go to the dealer and bring the tank and have them talk to tech support.

I have to hand it to the Polaris folks. I went above a few CS folks heads and they saw my point and gave me a partial credit.

My hat is off to the folks at Polaris. They did come through for me.
