I doubt you will get much of a response to this as many will not give up a honey hole, panfish hot holes are hard to come by... there are a ton of great ponds in IA and Nebraska.. otherwise I would be willing to bet that Upper Red still kicks out a few monster crappies.

The lake I fish in Aitkin county has 16+" crappies and 10" gills. This is a consistant producer. Only problem is its privately owned and there is no legal access. You gotta know someone to get there. Can't tell you where it is or I'll have to kill you....

I've already said too much

Matt's defintely getting tougher to stalk. The guy started using disguises last spring. Riding in someone else's truck. Just plain being sneaky.

I guess a guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do. wink.gif

Geez... I turn away for a little while and look what happens grin.gif You guys are too funny...

Actually, there are a ton of excellent panfish lakes around the state, and oftentimes you don't have to travel too far to get on one. Most lakes are abundant with pannies, and it's not uncommon to find lakes in your backyard that are capable of producing large sunfish and crappies.

I always enjoying searching out new bodies of water with the intent of locating big pannies. Take a close look at lake surveys and see which lakes are constantly pumping out larger fish. Lakes that have the ability to hold those larger fish and show decent numbers are usually a good place to start.

Think of lakes where you tied into some big pannies during open water, those lakes can also be hot under the ice.

Be willing to punch a lot of holes and move often, cause that't the name of the game when chasing down slabs and bulls smile.gif
