14 shots in an hour and a half?

Anybody run into anything like this? I was sitting in my stand this morning and about 6:45 a guy comes walking down a trail right during prime hours that I had been seeing deer in that area. I'd guess he was there maybe 15 minutes and he fires 2 shots, didn't see any deer go running so I figured he must have got it. About 15 minutes later a few more shots fired still didn't see or hear any deer running. Then I'd say another 15 or 20 minutes go by and more shots. I believe he shot 14 times total in about an hour and a half. Who shoots that many times at deer in one morning? I find it hard to believe he had that many GOOD shots at deer? Maybe he was party hunting and planned on shooting everyones deer for them? I don't usually bring that many shells in the woods with me. If I missed more than 5 times I would have gone home.

I had this happen once in the past. I was sitting in a stand and I guy comes by and fires a pistol in the air a couple times, then walks away and I hear him fire a another couple shots. A little more time goes by, and he does it again. After a while my grandpa caught up to him and asked him what the HECK he was doing? He claimed he was trying to drive deer towards his hunting partners. Needless to say, they didn't get any. Only ruined our hunt that day.

Could he have been Harassing hunters? They may have found a way to harass you and you don't even know it!!!

This is embarrassing, but when I was 13 I had taken 48...yes 48 shots at deer and never hit a one! Thankfully my aim has improved since then.

Not sure what the guy who shot 14 times was up to though.

He was dressed in head to toe blaze orange and the shots seemed to come from the same area, he didn't sound like he was chasing something else. Sounded like a pretty high powered rifle to be shooting at squirrels or rabbits.

I as well had the same thing Saturday morning. I could tell exactly where this person was. It is a good spot where there is a finger about 40 yards wide that extends into a swamp. I counted 9 shots in the matter of 3 or 4 minutes. There is no way, in the spot he was at that he could shoot more than twice at a deer, or even a herd of deer before they were out of site! I snuck up fifteen minutes later to see what was going on, or at least check the status of the area, and he was still in his stand.

I chalked it up to sheer stupidity. I think he had nothing better to do than just target shoot. But who knows? I am still wondering what he has doing. I thought about going up to him and asking what he was doing or shooting at, but thought better of it, and just let it be!!! I think I made the right choice. I did know where they were parked, so I strolled out there way to say hey, and none of them claimed to see anything after I asked. So I just chalked it up to boredom, and decided to stay away!!!

Yep, I agree... Target shooting, more specifically, sighting in their rifle. I couldn't think of a better way to ruin a morning of hunting...

Our neighboring hunters took 11 shots over a span of less than a minute on Saturday. Well, it was 3 different guys.

First guy, 3 shots. Next guy, 3 shots. Next guy 3 shots....a short pause and another shot....short pause then yet another shot....

I have to just sit in my stand and wonder how many winged deer that left running around the woods.... They are rather known for their lack of precise killing abilities over the years. We didnt talk to them this year, but they were running on 3 years in a row up to this year with shot deer that were lost. My gut just turns thinking about it. Dang it.

I can't change them, I can only change me. But I don't know what to change....

Last WI deer opener, I counted 28 shots before losing count. This happened around noon. All I could figure was someone was trying to sight in their rifle.

Our group sometimes shoots trap during lunch and I suppose people think were crippling deer all over the place. Good food, good company and good shooting. Of course this is on private land.

We hear that racket every year to. Usually late in the morning, especially on Sundays. We figure it's people who are breaking camp and leaving. They are using up shells they don't want to bring home.
