Aerial Maps

Mapquest.com has recently updated their site, and in the upper-right hand corner of the map, you can flip back and forth between a traditional street map and arial photo. I just looked for the area that I am hunting this weekend, and it looks like the aerial photo is from sometime within the past year and a half or so.

Google Earth is far and away the best photo tool that I have found. I monkeyed around with a couple of others (NASA, yada yada yada, etc) and Google Earth is by far the easiest to use and find locations.

Plus, you can save locations and easily get back to them! Very nice for cataloging multiple hunting sites.

also on the lmic site is north star mapper (google north star mapper to find it). very nice site that will give you 2003 color photos, land use land cover, 1991 black and white photos, topo maps, township range, etc

the images of my area seem to be the same as google earth, but it is a whole lot harder to download and install and get viewing software.

However, once you download it, you don't have to be hooked up to the internet. (I am taking my laptop up to deer camp.)

Otherwise google and terraserver earth is far better in my opinion.

Anyone have opinions of the other advantages of the lmic

Thanks for posting the links. I'm seeing the same images on LMIC and Google Earth for my area, but it's nice to see it from a different source.

FYI, if you use Google Earth Pro and Garmin Mapsource you can go back and forth between the two--something I do. See your tracks and routes overlaid on the aerial photo. It's a pretty great tool.
