Scrape Line

David Frank

Recommended Posts

I found a 5 scrapes within 100 yards of each other along a fence line with overhanging tree limbs. I plan to hunt it tonight or tommorrow night. What type of scent should I use and where should I put it when I hunt this area? There is also a couple of trees freshly rubbed near one of the scrapes.

Thanks ahead of time for any responses,

Dave

As far as scent goes i would try to be as scent free as possible and not use any attractant. Like was posted before, I dont think I would hunt the scrape line, find a travel corridor close to it and hunt that.

i also wouldn't hunt directly over them but a trail to it. for attractants. i would try a buck decoy, if you have one you dont need it but it helps, with buck scent and do a little rattling. be sure to put the scent and decoy if you have it up wind, and look for him to come from down wind. be sure your scent free.

thats just what id do, sercumstances are different for each area though, farm, forest, river bluffs, urban, ect. high or low buck to doe ratio all that stuff you know your deer best.
