how do you get TC shock waves in the muzzel?

I shoot a knight in line muzzel loader and am trying TC shock wave sabots, When I seat the bullet in the plastic jacket I can hardly get them in the gun, I almost have to pound them in with a bullet starter and a chunk of wood

any suggestions other than not using them?

I am shooting the American Pioneer powder, You can shoot 25-30 rounds with out any build up) and was told that the power belts I had been shooting did not shoot well?

Any one have any experiences?

I just started on muzzel loaders in the last few years so I am no expert, but I can share my experiences. I am actually a fan of the Powerbelts. My TC Omega shoots them really well with Triple 7 pellets. It seems to prefer the hollow points vs. the aero tips.

I have also tried sabots, and it shoots them only marginally better than the powerbelts, but I also found them very hard to get down the barrel. The really serious guys I know prefer sabots, but my groups are good enough to hit any deer in the woods in the vitals. The best thing I did to tighten up my groups was add a peep sight.

I haven't used the Pioneer Powder. If I were you, I would go to the range and experiment to see what your gun likes.

I shot it a lot yesterday, the pioneer powder is great, it is not messy at all.

I shot 30 rounds and ran a dry patch through every 5 shots, even after 30 shots it came back really clean!

The gun seems to shoot the power belts fine with that powder.

I have been shooting triple 7, but wanted to try the pioneer , I like the fact that the gun does not get dirty with the pioneer.

I am thinking the sales guy wanted to sell me the TC shock waves, He claimed that the power belts do not seal tight enough and do not carry their energy more than 100 yds? I dont shoot that far any way.

I have been curious about the Pioneer Powder as well. Do you think you get the same velocities as Triple 7? It sounds cleaner than Triple 7. Did you use pellets or granular?

On the Powerbelt, they just came out with a new version that is supposed to seal better than the old ones. I bought some, but I haven't tried them yet.

not sure onthe velocity yet, I am going to shoot some pumpkins today and see what happens.

It is definatly cleaner than triple 7

I have a Knight, do not like Powerbelts at all, really like Shockwaves. I run a patch every few shots, for a couple reasons.

1. Bullets load easier.

2. When I shoot deer it is with a "clean" barrel, not a barrel that has had 30 shots run through it since cleaning. Maybe there's not that much difference in accuracy (especially at close ranges), but I want my gun sighted in on targets the same way it will be shot on live deer.

I believe they make a shockwave bullet now with a differnt sabot casing called "TC Shockwave Superglides". One with only 2 fins instead of 4. There is less plastic and more bullet then in the barrel but it still seals as well. They were made because of the very problem you are refering to.

I have not tried them yet but im going to! I have an Encore and those Shockwaves are an SOB to load!!!! But they shoot awsome???

I tried sabots in my old muzzleloader, after about breaking the push rod to get the second or third one in, I switched to powerbelts and never looked back.

Currently using an Encore and the powerbelts shoot great. Plenty of venison in the freezer to prove it.

Well after pounding a box of the shock waves into my night I returned the other boxes and am back with my powerbelts! They seem to shoot great with the american pioneer powder and explode pumpkins at 100 yds! So I will shoot 150 grains of AM pioneer with 195 grain power belts.

They have worked in the past. the pioneer powder is easy to clean up

I am curious. Did you try that new version of the Powerbelt that is supposed to have a better seal?

I havent tried shockwave bullets but I do use Hornady SST. Kinda the same design. I also shoot a Knight. They work good out of the Knight, good groups, and I have no trouble loading them and I use Triple 7 pellets. I used a 300 gr SST last fall to bring down my biggest bull moose ever. It was a 10 yard shot and it ran about 30 yards. I found the bullet just under the hide on the other side. the bullet weighed 213 gr and almost a perfect mushroom. I have been thinking about trying the American pioneer powder. Sounds like it is alot cleaner than the 777. Have to pick some up soon and try it out. I tried powerbelts, i liked the way they loaded so easy but I couldnt get them to group as good as the Hornady SST. By the way, do you have a loading jag that is made for this style of bullet? It helps if you do. good luck
