I think you'll find that most gps units are coming down in price with the advent of the next generation. I have a lowrance i finder pro, used just like you use, and I paid $160 for it a couple years ago. you should be able to get a similar unit for around $100 now.

I am looking into the Lowrance I Finder, My bro has one and it is extremely accurate on depths, contours. It is around $170, I am not sure what it all comes with, it is something to look into. We compared it to the depth finder, it was within a couple of feet of each other. (water levels may have been low at the time)

I dont think lakemaster does, but i think if you have both the lakemaster chip and the Mapcreate software, you can upload the lakemaster info into your mapcreate program, somebody correct me on this if i am wrong, but this is what i was told. Maybe someone out there who has Mapcreate can answer me this: Can I download the DNR .tif files of the lakemaps and put them into mapcreate and then onto a chip similar to what you can do with a Garmin and ArcGIS?

You will like the I Finder. I have the black/white H2O and it's a very nice unit. Works great with both the LakeMaster and Navionics chip. A lot of features and it will more than get the job done for you when out on the ice.

Matt, do you ever wish you had the color unit, or is the grayscale fine? I'm looking and have been "himmin" and "hawin" about the gray versus color.

stick,

I'm happy with the black/white version, I have no problems with it. I've used the color and a lot of people I fish with have the color, but I bought mine before the color came out and I didn't feel the need to have to make the upgrade.

Both are great units though...

I have the H2Oc unit and is an excellent choice to have. I will warn you that the unit is very hard on battery life. Why you ask? Because with color, in order to see the screen effectively you need to have the light on otherwise it is very tough to see...IMO. If you can handle picking up some add'tl batteries, then you'll put up with the only problem I can find with the unit!

It's a great unit!

H20C vs H20

- Battery life like Captain BRK eluded too. I'm guessing 6-8 hours max in the winter on fresh batteries. Its poor.

- Can't see the color screen in direct sunlight. Its awesome unless the sun is shining on it.
