Metro Hunting

Hello everyone. I own a piece of property (~2 acres) within the city limits of Coon Rapids and have a few deer on the property...can I bowhunt this or do I need a special tag from the city?

Contact Coon Rapids to see if their discharge ordinance covers archery equipment and if they allow hunting. Most cities don't give special discharge permits, rather, they'll say you can or can't. If you can, you just need to stay within the regular season dates (9/16-12/31) and use state licenses/permits. Oh, and be mindful of your neighbors. Nothing looks worse than a deer dying in someone elses backyard.

Good luck.

I'm pretty sure that Coon Rapids doens't allow any hunting, and if they did it would be unlikely you would be allowed anyway. Most cities only allow hunting on larger parcels. Chanhassen is the smallest I know of and they say 3 acresa nd it can't be in a platted neighborhood.

Call the PD or check at city hall. Its really easy. You'll get a yes or no anser. If no one knows, call the city clerk. They can look up the actual ordinance in the citys laws.
