Planting the River Rat Seed

My nephew is staying with me for a few days on his way back home to Alaska. He is 6 and all he can talk about is fishing. I decided to take a day off and take him out on the river. Figures that it was pouring rain when we woke up this morning. We did have some clearing later on so out the door we went.

It's pretty tough to get a six year old to cast out and wait, so that was a challenge, but when I finally did the fish found the crawlers

Then he wanted to show off his graceful cast, runs in the family I'm sure

Yeah, he's a quick learner, even at the smack talk. I was reminding him of the cast a few minutes ago and said in a singing voice, "Alec fell on his butt"

Immediately he say in the same voice, "Uncle Darren didn't catch any fish"

That is what it is all about.I remember when I was a little shaver and our neighbor would take me out fishing.It didnt matter what you caught as long as it was a fish.Dtro,you planted the seed for sure and its great what you did.If more people would take a little time and spend it with some kids things would be better for all.
