Marine Plywood..?

Where does a person get Marine Plywood in the Metro "mpls" area......or should I just use treated plywood for my Boat Floor....If I use treated should I seal it also..?

PB read the thread about New Floor.

DO NOT use treated lumber with aluminum boats.

A sheet of marine plywood will cost between $ 60 to $ 90.

The treated will react with aluminum, so if you use treated put a rubber gasket at all contact points. You'll need stainless steel fasteners too.

You can use plywood and spar varnish. Spar varnish is designed for boats in that is stays pliable and will not crack. Epoxy resin is also used as a water proofing. Its not as pliable as spar varnish buts it harder, its more expensive too.

Marine plywood in my opinion isn't overkill in the longevity sense but its overkill cosmetically. It still needs water proofing. I don't think you'll see much Marine grade plywood in most of todays boats. Dashs and wooden seats made from marine grade plywood are being replaced with plastic and vinyl coverings. Plywood is classified by grade thats according to on how many plies it has , voids, knots, wood type and glues.

Consider Marine plywood a cabinet grade plywood with some rot and water resistance(still needs to be sealed though)with no voids, knots and a higher number of plies.
