Can you just run 2 wires and a fuse from the battery of you truck to the battery's in your ice house with a simple plug at the hitch for disconecting when not in tow. I have looked at a few of them and it looks like thats all there is to the whole deal.please let me know if there is more to this or not. THANKS DP cool.gif

I used to wire up an extension cord (female end) to the vehicles battery. Then run a 25 ft. ext cord from the shack (male end) to the truck. Plug 'em in and leave the truck run for hour or so and back in business. Sorry not really much from the trailer hitch plug though.

Seems to me you'd want a pretty heavy duty extension cord to run that much power over a long distance. Jumper cables are usually around 6 gauge and they're only 10-20'. You're talking about using 16-14 gauge wire over 20' and that just doesn't sound safe to me. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

It will work just fine. The stay n' charge system is very similar but I think they run 12 gauge. Take a look at this system it will probably fit the bill for what you are looking for. You will have some current drop but it will still work. You won't hurt anything either.
