Good Deal? I think so

Fishin4Life

Question

I found a 16 foot lund on hsolist. Listed for $800. Its a 1978 with a 25hp Johnson motor. Motor just had an impeller put in this year. Boat has a flat floot, livewell, and bow mounted trolling motor. Comes with other misc boat stuff too.

I think this is a great deal. I might go look at it at lunch if the guy sends me an e-mail back. Anything I should look for? What do you all think of it? I thought it was a great deal.

Make sure you check the transom and make sure its not rotten! The floor isn't too hard to replace but the transom is alot worse! Check compression on all cylinders and they should be close to the same or somethings wrong with the motor. Good Luck!

A race that I'm not winning frown.gif

LOL, I assume it sold, cause I haven't heard anything. Oh well.

Yes a bit of money might be needed, but I would be willing at this price. We will see. As fall comes around I am sure many deals with start popping up.

Sounds like there may be a race to get this boat

Just remember that often times a cheap boat meams spending a lot of time and sometimes money trying to fix things

But depending on the final cost you mostly will get a better price.

I sell dozens of cheap boats with something to fix on it, I can guarantee 100% of people that bought from me saved a lot of money even after the repairs, sice I take in consideration the expenses when I price one.

On the other side I see many people buying from some internet sites where they sell "Crashed toys" and they spend a fortune for things that are almost worthless.

They all come back to me anyway since I have all the parts they need to fix their purchase, then see same boat here for sale at 1/3rd of what they paid and they start cussing..... grin.gif

Nothing yet. Its irritating when people place an ad and then take forever to respond. I was just gonna buy it to fix up and resell. I went and picked up that 97 1650 fishhawk in the clasifieds tonight though. Nice boat, its for my dad until spring then I will buy it from him. Its a little upgrade from my current one.

Yeah i hate that too, its like why do they even bother posting an add. I was looking to buy it as an upgrade from what I have. I don't mind if it's in a bit of rough shape as long as the motor is good. I can deal with bad cosmetics. I can guarentee it is 100% upgrade from my current rig. But oh well, another deal, another day.
