Carlos Lee a Twin?

Sure he would be a perfect fit and would give us what we need for the next five years, but do you think the Twins will really go out and get him? What would it cost?

The Star/Trib HSOforum just had something on that possiblility. Anyone hear anything?

I don't see the twins going after any big names right now. Mainly becuase we don't have much to offer them. Hunter, Ford and Stewart are hurt, Loshe is a head case and we only have a few prospects right now.

If we want a top tier player Garza our minor league pitching prospect will have to be part of the package. Not sure I like that, people are raving about this guy, he has been dominating every level he has been at. I wouldn't mind seeing him with the twins in the future to pair up with Santana and Liriano. Since Radke is probably at the end of his career we need to think about who can take his spot. Garza might be that guy.

The Brewers find themselves contending for the NL wildcard, in spite of their pitching injuries. They need some lights out pitching, and they need it right now. A starter, and their pen is a disaster lately. What would the Twins be willing to give up? I'm not sure if they would give up Lee for multiple prospects or not, and they don't need offense IMO.

Lee is a free agent after the season and its pretty obvious the Brewers will not resign him, so they are just trying to get something in return. The Brewers are currently #5 in line for the NL Wild Card with 3 others right behind. I'm guessing they are still looking to the future more than the current year.

If the price wasn't too bad, he may be a good fit.

I wonder about someone like Silva. Young enough to appeal to some teams, and we may be more eager to part with him than Garza. Or Baker or Bonsor. Those 4 guys represent 2 starting spots this year and 3 next year. Do we need them all? It would be a nice luxury, but we maybe should trade one for a good hitter....a bird in hand is better than a triple A pitcher's potential....With what we are hearing about Garza, I would like to see them part with one of the others. Baker and Lohse and Stewart for Lee?

Stewart is probably worth nothing. His career might be done with. He is as fragile as a box of eggs now.

Silva and Lohse together are worth much less than Garza alone. Teams are going to want our top prospect + if we are asking for their best hitter. Something like a Garza and Cuddyer or Kubel.

As much as I would love to see Lee batting cleanup for this team, if we can't resign him, I don't want to give up our #1 pitching prospect for him. This Garza kid is going to be the righthanded bridge between Santana and Liriano for years to come. TR will not move him.

I think if anything you will see us pick up a starting pitcher. Greg Maddux might be one that we borrow for the rest of the year.

I think you trade Lohse Baker and Kubel is a heartbeat if you can get Lee AND SIGN HIM TO A FIVE-YEAR DEAL.

TR would never do it but I would -- IN A SECOND. I like Kubel and Baker but it is the price you have to pay.

Nobody in front of the Brewers is playing consistent ball. My Reds lead the NL wildcard chase, and the Brewers swept us just couple weeks ago. They are insane if they have given up on this season. They are four games behind the Reds. Not the Sox and Tigers. Their pitchers are just coming off the DL starting yesterday with Ohka. Not sure when they get Sheets back. I know Lee is a free agent, but I still say they can demand some pitching for Lee. There aren't many teams he doesn't drastically improve offensively.

Yes I wouldnt mind seeing, Lohse,Kubel,Baker, Boof any of those guys go BUT. do we want to bring a big name onto our team and possibly disrupt the flow of the clubhouse. Sometimes you get these big names in there and they have an ego and they just mess stuff up. Lets stay how we are and worry about getting some people in the offseason. Just my view. Why do we need him, we have the best record in baseball the last 40 games or so.

I was listening to the Reds broadcast last night. Our announcer claims Milwaukee has offered Carlos Lee 48 million to remain a Brewer for four more years, and he has told them that just won't cut it. Sometimes I wish I didn't even know what these guys make. Is it just me, or does that seem like sufficient money to play a game, and only have four months vacation a year?

Seems like way to much but its what the market bears. If no one else will pay the money and George thinks the Yanks need him then he will get more.If the leaque was full of Calvin Griffiths, then you would not have this.
