i have seen this lure advertised a lot on TV with its 30 min sagment on the outdoors channel and was wondering if anyone has tried this lure and if it works.

Just go get yourself some soft plastic jerkbaits and worm hooks. They work just as good.

Hey I've got a set of Helicopter lures also, every spring I think "I should really give those a try this year". Hasn't happened yet, maybe I'm missing out on some great fishing.

i have been a banjo man for some time now. Although you can buy flukes and similiar lures they are not quite as effective in my opinion. The way the banjo is rigged gives it full body action and looks alot like a dying minnow. You can save money buy buying knock offs but in my opinion to compete with the banjo you will need to hook it once through the nose then it flexes better. Also if you are going to buy banjos DON'T buy the kit go to the 'banjo minnow parts and sales' part of the HSOforum and they are very cheap as cheap as flukes. my 2 bits. they are a fantastic lure however. ike

Believe it or not I had some copter lures when they 1st came out and actually caught fish on them....If Pike count as fish when 1 is fishing bass!! Seriously though i did get a few bass on them too

Who was it that endorsed those Helicopter Baits?? Seems like maybe Jimmy Houston... Many more fisherman caught than lunkers I suspect.

I have seen a few outdoors shows where they used the Banjo minnow in Canada for the big pike in shallow water. Appeared to work great.

The Banjo minnow is a glorified soft plastic jerkbait. I will say this, the way you rig it is a bit different and does allow for the bait to have a slightly different action.

Does it work, sure it does! IS it a magic lure.. probably not!

I would take a sluggo or other soft jerkbait before the ol'banjo.

Wayne hockmeyer the invento of the banjo minnow use to have what was known as the banjo minnow challenge and he still may. But what it was is that he would put his lure and 10,000 bucks on the as long as you did the same and as far as i know he never lost. it is a dynomite lure.

The helicopter lure... HA! I can't believe I actually shelled out the $30 for that kit when I was younger.
