Skeg Repair Question

Doonbuggy

Question

Unfortunately I busted up my skeg pretty good on LOTW yesterday. The 'elbow' part of the lower unit and the prop were not touched and the motor seems to be running fine (took it slow 'n easy getting back).

Insurance will pick up the tab, but I'm wondering if someone can suggest some places where I can get a good repair job; motor is a Johnson 90hp 4stroke).

Also, when repairing, exactly what is taken off or what is done to make a complete repair? Thanks in advance.

It's only about a $200 repair, is it really worth turning it into insurance? You know they will use anything they can to charge you higher rates. I'm sure this alone won't change your rates but if you have anything else that is more expensive it might factor in to bumping them up.
