DTro
Returned home recently on a weeklong trip up to Vermilion. So I was looking forward to getting out after some cats. Decided to change oil on my two vehicles before I went out yesterday, bent over to get on the creeper and down for the count I went. I must have just tweaked the muscle or nerve in my back perfectly . I really could've used one of those "I've fallen and I can't get up" things. Looks like I'm out of commission for a bit (at least taking the boat out). Did manage to get some pretty good meds though I'm attributing it to all the big fish I've caught recently..... course the truth is that I'm terribly out of shape and I think it's starting to rear it's ugly head. Guest
I think its something in the air... I'm good to go as long as I am sitting still.. as soon as I get up and move around for a short period of time, or use any energy.. my chest locks up and I get unbearable pain that starts from my chest and makes its way down both arms to my wrist I have been to the emergency room twice within the last week fearing the worst.. nothing wrong with my heart and my lungs are clear.. they have no idea what is causing it. They say its possibly acid reflux causing problems with my nerves, or a respiratory disorder and my body doesnt like something in the air.. I hope your back ache dissapears dtro! When it goes.. please send my bug along with it!
hanson
Hmmm... You drive the boat & I'll catch the fish. I think that arrangement could work out well.

harvey lee
DTRO Im looking at Friday night if you are interested.I finally got a bunch of bullies for those bait robbers.
DTro
I'm always interested, but you might need to bring along some extra "pain relievers" I have exactly zero bullheads, haven't had any since our last outing, and I don't see myself lugging a full 5 gal pail 1/4 mile to my bullhead spot in the near future. Currently, I can't even put on my own shoes. Hopefully I'll be back in business by week end. I think Papa Grump has a leauge meeting planned for Fri. DARK30
I was down at Blakeley this morning picking up after some shore pigs. I bent over to pick up a can and ""tweak"" goes the lower back! That's all it took but not severe this time...I can put my shoes on anyway.
mplspug
What is going on? I pulled a muscle in my back and pinched a nerve. It happened last Wednesday when I went cat fishing. I wanted to try fishing in the morning, so I got up early. I had a knot in my back, but that wasn't unusual. After hauling bullheads and what not through the woods to my spot, I noticed my back had gotten increasingly uncomfortable. By 9:30 it was unbearable and I called it a day. It was intolerable by that evening. As of today, the muscle seems healed, but I still have numbness in my thumb and slight numbness in my arms. There's still a little knot in the back, but I have almost 100% range of motion. After reading this post I am begining to thing maybe we all have symptoms of bullhead poisoning. All that stinging is catching up with us boys!

rushing
Some sort of long term effect of "catfish rabies"? I think the only treatment is acupuncture with bullhead fins is the answer!

I feel your pain brother. I threw mine once picking up a quarter of the floor...greedy bastr. Take it easy and let it work itself out. I spent years pushing through the pain to make the mortgage payment, go fishing and pretend like nothing is wrong. In the end I wound up flopping around in the bottom of Steeles boat and spending the next two weeks in hosipitals stacking up 30k in medical bills. A sore back is not something to mess with, go get some meds to help those muscle relax if you don't have them already and be very careful what you do, it takes a long time for the back to heal. If you want the numbers to a good Chiro, Dr.s, surgical Dr, or any of that stuff let me know, I spent the last ten years going to them and no longer have the need thanks to my surgery and a GOOD Doctor. DTro
Yikes, I guess the Back Fairy has been making her rounds. Hanson, I think you might be on to something regarding the liquids. I haven't had an MRI done yet, but this seems to happen to me once every couple of years. The only problem is that it seems to get worse every time. From what the DR's have told me, I don't need any surgery, I just need to strengthen my back muscles more (read excersise more). They gave me Norflex and Codeine. Neither of which worked well enough to get me to work today oh and That Guy, that's some scary stuff, hopefully it's like they said.....reflux. Sure sounds like some minor blockage to me. Random guy
Dtro, get your back in shape or your back will look like this. The way it was explained to me was what your back muscles can not hold your discs carry the load. Stronger muscles less wieght on the discs. Plus the back muscle work as shock asorbers for the back, weak muscle in the back it is all on the discs again. As the years went by working heavy equipment I lost strength in my back and gained upper body strength, now you can lift/hold more with your upper body then your back can hold. Recipe for disaster. Each red circle is worth 10k. A good gym membership is much much cheaper, and the scenery isn't so bad at those places. I have been going three times a week and it not only gets you shape but you will devolep a superman hookset from the arm/shoulder work outs! I don't even reel fish in anymore, just flip em in the boat with the hook set.

I almost went out with my brother just to "watch" them fish. I am sure that's all I would have done.
