MapCreate 6.3 problem

fisher_king2004

Question

Looking for some help with Lowrance MapCreate 6.3 installation. I'm trying to install it on Windows XP Home edition and when it asks to load the second disk I do so and hit OK. The system never comes back. I have to end the program.

I've disabled my antivirus, spamkiller, and firewall applications but same result. Anyone else had a similar issue? confused.gif

guys, go to the lowrance HSOforum, look under the FAQ's and look for the question titled "windows XP SP2 fix for mapcreate 6.3

it basically is a way around this problem (I think), basically it is telling to plug in the map card reader with a card in it before you try and run the software. It's the best I could find, and for the life of me I can't remember if this is what I had done. Do a search on this forum, there might be someone who has had this problem too..

Joel, email sent

did you try and contact bill gates or his underlings? Lowrance is usually pretty prompt on their help.......nope still can't remember what I did before........for some reason I think it was something with how I set up the download on the first disk, did you try uninstalling what you have so far and starting over from scratch? All I know is I picked up the ram mount today at cabelas so now my can holder is open for refreshments grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

problem resolved.

I disabled all my McAfee applications(virusscan, firewall, antispam, privacy) before starting the Mapcreate install and it worked. Full install took a while but it looks like I'm ready to go.

Does anyone know if you can take your lakemaster chip and load the lake depth maps into MapCreate to make some custom maps? The mapcreate manual mentions it but they don't mention the lakemaster series.

To piggyback Fisher's question, can you copy Navionics/Etc brand chips to blank chips? I doubt that you can, but I have a buddy who thinks there is a way to do it, therefore creating two chips. (My buddy is a cheap #^&)

Fisher...to answer your question, there is a lot of literature available in old (last years) issues of In-Fisherman...Electronics Doc (Sampson). He gives a lot of detail on how to do that, I believe. Once you learn to do that, teach me please.

No....the card has encryption......and of course it would illegal to steal it.

If you let your friend try to read or copy your card there is a good chance he will ruin your card and it will not be replaced by Navionics.......
