Senko worms

I have been hearing a lot about these senko worms and i am not sure what is so unique about them. I am just trying to get some info about how to rig and fish them. I believe the most popular way to fish them is weightless with an offset worm hook. Is this true? if so, is it fished like a texas rigged worm but just slower? or do u swim it? Any information would be appreciated.

Texas rigging is a very good way to fish a senko. It makes it very weedless. I let the senko fall back to me on a slack line. If I move it at all it is just picking up my rod tip to check for any heaviness on the worm which usually indicates a bite. No other movement is needed hence the term "dead sticking". Watch your line carefully for any jumps or movement in a different direction. When you detect a bite make sure you cross it's eyes with the hook set. There is alot of plastic to penetrate and work through - small light tip rods are not the choice for fishing this bait. I like to throw it on a medium action fairly light tipped 6'6" rod that gives me the backbone I need on a hook set, but the lighter tip keeps me from pulling the bait away from the fish.

Yep,slower the better only bummer is they are spendy/bait munchers love to tear them apart/hard to pitch accurately/your constantly re-rigging them and generaly a pain in the arse to fish with but the dang things catch fish.Only time I'll mess with them is during a tournament to show them something different and it's usually good for a few fish anyway.

I've found that pairing a 5" Senko with a Gopher Tackle 3/32oz, #1 hook, Mushroom head jig is a great way to haul in some nice sized bucketmouths.

I always rig it with the hook exposed so there's no plastic to penetrate. The hook practically sets itself. It's not exactly weedless but it is great either on weedlines or even around docks if there's not too much slop around. Plus, once a bass gets it hooked into the corner of its mouth, the hook will stay there until I remove it.

Give it a try sometime. grin.gif

Ditch the Senkos and pick up the Mister Twister Exude Comida's - they are 5 inch worms. Same slow fall action, plus scented, and more durable. Take it from a Senko guy, the Comida's keep pace with 'em, or better! Weightless texas rigging is a great way to fish shallows, docks, weed mats, pads, and timber.

It's funny.. I've had such great luck fishing Senkos wacky rigged (simply hooked right through the middle on a plain or weedless hook) that I haven't tried them Texas rigged yet.. I'll give that a go this week. I know it will be more weedless no doubt... but not sure how the action will compare with wacky rigged. Now.. when I say senkos... I really mean Bass Pro Shops Stick-O's... Gary's Senko's.. Northern Slurpies... and Exude Comida's. So many types! I really do like the Comida's.. cheap (with out discount) and very limp.. and built in scent... and I know they are a sponser here so that's cool. Good luck!

First time user with the Exude Comida's and they are a lot more strong than the Yamamoto bait's. I still like the action of the Senko's as they (IMO) sink faster than the imimations. I always use to reach for a senko but have also reached for imiations too. Saves on the pocket book which is nice, I just have to slow down my retrieve a bit.

Sometimes I use the wide gap hook with a built in weight... helps them sink faster.. when you buy Northland Slurpies (another imitation) they actually come with two red whide gap hooks.. 1 weightless and 1 like an 1/8oz (not sure on the weight). Have you tried that using Comidas?
