fish size chart

red bricks

Recommended Posts

I have been searcing for a size/chart that gives weights for Bass caught and released. I caught a 19.5" bass, very thick, last weekend and I don't have any Idea of the approx. weight.

I caught a 20.5" also but it wasn't as Thick as this last one. any ideas??

They were both probably close to the same weight and probably around 5 lbs. A healthy 19.5" is around 4.8 lbs or so and a skinny 20.5" might be 5.2 lbs or so. Just some guesses thrown out after weighing and measuring about 20 bass this size the last couple years. Just some ballpark figures, take it for what it is, an edjumacated guess. grin.gif

If you use a fish calculator for bass, make sure you pick one that includes a girth measurement too to be accurate. On a twenty inch long fish, an inch or so variation in girth can make a huge difference.

I think Duffman's edjumacated guesses are pretty close to mine. Both nice fish!!!

Do a google search for weigh fish by ruler. Also if you know the girth and length then you can get exact weights because there are different formulas to figure that out

such as:

Walleye: length x length x length / 2,700

Pike: length x length x length / 3,500

Sunfish: length x length x length / 1,200

Bass: length x length x girth / 1,200

Muskie: Length x Girth x Girth / 900

Crappie: Length x length x length / 1,200

Trout: length x girth x girth / 800

that will get you pounds. good luck, ike

I bought a Berkley digital scale about 4 years ago. I think I paid around $30. They are small enought to stick in your back pocket or a tackle box if not fishing in a boat. I have found them to be extremely accurate.

thanks guys, that helps alot. 5# sounds about right. (Contact Us Please) strong fish, what a blast to catch. The best part about it is that I caught it right off my shoreline. Kids playing on beach and me fishing. The same spot I caught the 20.5" I would post a picture but I don't know how.
