Pressure Washers?

hoggs222

Question

I'm looking at getting a pressure washer. The one I'm looking at is the 2200 psi Husky from Home Depot. Do you think that this one would be good at stripping paint off the deck & cleaning the siding on the house?

Hoggs - in my opinion the key operational factor in pressure washers is GPM (gallons per minute). Buy as high a flow rate as you can stand - the lower cost pumps from say 1.7 to 2.0 GPM can really take some time moving the material you want. When you get around 2.4-2.8 GPM you really see a improvement in performance.

I bought last year a Karcher 2400psi with a Honda motor.

I couldn't have been more happy. I had several piece of ....you know what, but I am impressed with this one.

It stays outside in the sun/rain the whole time, except when it freezes then I winterize it (empty water from hose, that's it) and it starts EVERY time at first pull.

I stripped my deck and cleans the house siding very well.

If you can put in your budget a washer with plunger type pump it will be much better.

I have the same Karcher model. Mine starts on the first pull too. Their is definetly enough pressure to take paint off, it has like 5 nozzles with different spray patterns. Got mine at Menards for $400 I believe. Has a hose to put into a gallon of cleaner which is nice to spray on before pressure washing. The thing is fun to use, washed just about everything I owned this past weekend!

Is that one gas or electric? If gas I probably wouldn't have a problem with it but i'm not entirely sold on the electric husky's. I purchased the Honda powered 2750psi pressure washer from the home depot a couple of years ago. It took the paint off the stucko and the hoists at work! It does a great job of blasting whatever of of whatever.

Most Rental centers will rent these. It may not be a bad idea to rent a model with the same psi that you are considering. Try it out and see what you think.
