Who's next??

Down to Earth

Recommended Posts

Well, we've seen Batista in a Twins uniform for the last time I think, so now you got to wonder who's next? With the way Kubel has started out it's going to be hard to take him out of the line up. Stewart is coming back soon, so that makes the outfield even more crowded, and Sierra should be ready for a return soon as well.

Basically ends up coming down to Stewart, Sierra, and White. White has pretty much been a failure from the start,so short term I see him hitting the road. I did hear on KFAN yesterday, that the way the Twins might be thinking is see how Stewart comes back and if he is looking good, trade him to a team in the hunt and try and pick up a prospect or two.

Other thoughts?

With what has happened so far pretty much everyone they signed in the offseason is going to be gone accept Sierra. They traded Castro to the Reds for a outfield prospect yesterday, White will just be shown the door, Stewart and maybe Hunter will be traded to a contender for a few prospects. Other than that I don't know what else they could do..

I think trading for infield prospects is the key. We have no one in the system for 3rd, 2nd, ss. Can't figure out why they can't get find talent here like we do in the outfield or pitching. Could do some kind of combo package of either Stewart, Hunter, or White. Remember White plays outfield. If White goes put Sierra as dh.

Nothing has been metioned, but why keep these 2 guys around?? Stewart cant stay healty for a full season and Hunter is a bum. All Hunter know's how to do is either strikeout or ground into double plays with runner's on base, plus the guy is way overpaid. Why not trade these 2 guys and get prospects like the twins always do. Ya have to remember, this is the Twins they run the team CHEAP....

Wild you make a lot of sense Hunter is way over paid and over rated I will tell you that R.White must have pictures of Gardy doing something wrong to stay on the team this long,he is as terrible as I have ever seen,oh yeh know he has a hurt should kind of ironic dont you think.

To answer your question, because Stewart is a lifetime .300 hitter which is not that common an he's a legit, established lead off hitter with a .984 fielding percentage. Hunter has had a .334 OBP for the last 3 years, hit's 20+ HR's each year and is an emotional clubhouse leader(his golden gloves speak for themselves). To call him a "bum" is a little reactionary, at the least.

Also, just because we got a couple young guys who've been swinging the bats well for part of a season isn't necessarily enough cause to dump 2 established veterens. Say we trade Hunter and Stewart. Do you want our starting outfield to be Ford, Kubel, and Cuddy? I love having those guys, but not as the best starting outfield on our team. Depth is nice to have.

I'm not even saying keeping both guys is the only way to go, but this is why I'd prefer to see them stay.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Well, When Lohse went to the minors I did cartwheels. Now, he is back and I know why. He is getting 4 million and they figure might as well use him out of the pen, I guess. PLEASE Gardy and brain trust-do not put him back in the rotation. This guy is truly a Bum, as Mitty likes to say. Showcase him, if that is even the correct word here, and get him out of here. His attitude stinks, he takes shots at his own teammates. A cancer.

lohse pitched 2 good innings tonight, this will help on trading him away.

twins have won 6 in a row, and pitching has finally taken off as it was expected to be. I think they should just release white when stewart returns, and keep the players they have for now. if they cannot improve by the trading deadline, then they better trade hunter, since he most likely will not be back next year.

Unless Hunter is willing to restructure his contract I believe the Twins will try to deal him before the trade dead-line.

Stewart was a great addition to the team, espically when he first came over and was probably the second half MVP that year. Since then he simply has not been able to stay healthy. I believe he is also in the last year of his contract. Plus the Twins have a very crowded outfield. He's good as gone, espically if Hunter stays.

the thing with Stewart is that he is a liability in the field. Everybody....even Matthew LeCroy....would run on his arm! A good, solid leadoff hitter who gives you professional at bats, a liability in the field and struggles with injuries. Trade'em I say.
