nluchau
I have a northwood boat and trailer. one tire has 15lbs and the other 42. This can't be right. I think on the tire they say 60. Does this sound right? Should I fill both up to 60? This is my first time owning a boat and trailer. Sorry for the stupid question. Thanks, Nick
0 Jeremy airjer W
I am guessing that you have the smaller trailer tires 12"-13". These tires need the high air pressure to support the wieght of the boat and trailer. If you notice the center of the tires wearing faster than the outer tread than you could back the pressure down a little bit in order to get maximum tire life. 0 IFallsRon
In general, you'll want your cold pressure to match what's on the tire. The number on the tire corresponds to pressure for maximum load. You can adjust down but I wouldn't go more than 10%. Smaller, trailer-type tires require higher pressure to dissipate heat. You'll notice uneven wear and even separation with improper pressure. 0 Guest
Your tire is probably going to say max pressure 50, or 80 depending on the tire.. read the tire carefully.I run my trailer tires at max pressure and dont have any problems. Do not over inflate them.
0 iffwalleyes
60 should be right for a cool temp on the rig you got. Like Airjr said probably 12" wheels on the trailer and those need lots of air.
0 Valv
Read the side of the tire well, it could be 50lbs or 60lbs, just be sure of the number. You DO NOT want to go any higher or lower than max pressure (cold).
