Can I get some opinions on an office NASCAR league?

Recommended Posts

Its round 2 of my Fantasy NASCAR league at work and wanted some opinions on which drivers to have for the next 12 races (starting June 11 at Pocono).

In group 1, I can pick Johnson, Stewart, Kenseth, Martin or JR. The logical choice would be Johnson(who I am not a fan of) but my heart says to pick Stewart or JR., But Stewart is banged up and I don't know how that will affect him. There is no telling how JR will do, as he has been so inconsistent. So do I just pick Johnson, what do you guys think?

In group 9, I can pick Kevin Lapage, Terry Labonte, Brent Sherman, Stanton Barret, Kenny Wallace, Chad Chaffin or Mike Wallace. I have no Idea what to do here. I don't know which drivers plan on trying to qualify for which races and if they even try, what are the chances they qualify. Any Ideas?

Thanks,

Josh

I'd pick Stewart as I think he'll bounce back from a bad month in May. Johnson is solid and consistent, but last year Stewart really shined in the 2nd half of the "regular season".

I'd pick Mike Wallace for your Group 9 picks. Those guys listed are really up in the air, but I think Mike would be a more solid pick. confused.gif

I'd be wary of Stewart. Although he has the best average finish of the next six races, they are going to have Ricky Rudd standing by to drive if he needs to be yanked out because of his shoulder injury. Granted the car will still get the points, a driver swap typically doesn't bode well for the end result. I don't think they can switch drivers fast enough at Dover to not go a lap down, at least. Something to consider. Since you go on 12 race rotations, you may be able to sneak by a few weeks until he get's healed up though.

We pick drivers every six weeks and just picked for the 3rd stage yesterday. I had the second pick and took Johnson after the first took Stewart who I had the last 6 races. Gordon didn't go until early in the second round of picks! (8 people in the league). I can't believe I have Johnson and Ku Busch. As you can probably tell I am definitely not picking with my heart! I don't know how I can sleep at night..

With Tony being injured and not knowing how long his injury could keep him out,and with any small accident he could be re injured.

Group 1----Jimmy Johnson. For average finishes I dont believe you could go wrong. He is a legitimate contender for sure.

Your next group is very tough as these drivers dont race many races and dont qualify well.I believe I would go with Texas Terry as he has the most experience.

I'd go Johnson in first group. I think LePage and maybe Kenny Wallace are the only ones in that second group that will even try to make all the next twelve races. You got to go with the ones that will try the most races, because none will do any good its just the ones that make the shows. If Texas Terry were running them he'd be the one to go with due to the Champ's provisional, but I think he's only running about 3-4 more races all year.

Thanks for the opinions. I think I am going to go with Johnson in group 1. In group 9 I am going to go with Lepage, just because he has qualified for the most races out of that group.
