12v adapter for H2OC

When I am using the cigarette adapter for the H2OC in the car I am finding that it still requires the AA batteries to power on. If I forget to turn it off , it will drain the batteries even when it is still plugged into the 12v adapter. Is this a defect in my unit?

I ran mine all last weekend off of adapter with no batteries installed. I just have the H20 not the C so I suppose it could be different.

My H@Oc is fine with the adaptor and doesnt drain any battery life when I usae it. Bring them back.

Somethings not right with your unit or the adapter. The H2o's are designed to identify and use an external power source over batteries whenever available. Go to the Navigation Screen when it's plugged in. It should say something about "external power source" on the bottom. If you see this, then you know you're not running on batteries.

Check to see that your adaptor has the fuse installed, or that the fuse is not blown.

Agree with Gissert, check the fuse in the adapter. After that, check that the power port or cig lighter in your vehicle works (maybe that fuse is blown). Good luck.

With some vehicles you need to have the ignition on or turned to accessory in order for your cigarette or accessory plug to work.

When my unit is running on the adapter the screen does say it is running on external power. The problem is that after a few days the unit will not power on when attached to the adapter. Once I replace the batteries if powers up again just fine. I am thinking I need to return my unit.
