Fish Head
I was watching a fishing show this weekend and the 2 guys were freezing there tail off, just like I always do in the early and late season. However, they were using something called WILD BILL'S HOT RODS. It looks like its a small sleeve that wraps around the handle of the rod and you insert handwarmers. They're not cheap! you will pay $47.95 for a pair of them (including shipping). Do they work well? It would sure be nice to be able to keep the gloves and mittons off and still be able to feel my fingers.
wayne123
I have never used the wrap but often take hand warmers with in cold weather. I just keep it in my pocket and warm my hands from time to time. I suppose a person could use a little shrink wrap to secure the hand warmer to the rod. This should keep it dry too.
hovermn
I was watching that same show and thought to myself that they'd be great for early late season AND ice fishing! However, I didn't know that they were nearly $50. Seems a little steep. A person could easily make some hand warmers wrap around a rod for the cost of the warmers and rubber bands
porschevy
After reading this I ordered a set. They were 19.95 9or something like that) plus shipping. Check the price again.
Fish Head
I said they were "$47.95 for a PAIR OF THEM" (meaning 2), including shipping. The price for 1 is $19.95 plus $6.66 shipping for a total of $26.61. A Pair would cost $39.95, plus $12.00 shipping for a total of $47.95.Since you ordered one, let us know what you think of it. Thanks!

hovermn
my mistake. Thought that they were the price of a midrange rod... Oops! I'm also curious how they work in the real world.
LoonASea
the only problem with the pocket hand warmers is they need oxygen to acitvate so tape or shrink wrap would hinder their ability to produce heat Randoid
Worst Kid
Ive used them for ice fishing. Made by the same company that makes the "buzz sticks" and glow sticks. Its a neet idea but I would rather use a different ice rod and just have hand warmers in my pocket or gloves then to use the rod made for em.
