harvey lee
I have two woodies swimming in a pond scene. No digital, need to get one soon. The price was 475 a few years back.Your price will depend on the taxidermist you take it to.Dont go with the cheapest as thats almost for sure what you will get. Hanson Very nice looking Woodies. I would guess these woodies would cost you in the range of 175 a bird, plus the scene.
eyehead
Don't have a pic but I got a woddie taking off from a log and it ran about $250. Like Harvey Lee said don't go with a cheap taxedermist I just got my can back from last fall and the stiching is showing on top of it's head. harvey lee
I thought they looked really nice. They add a little color to the scene and its not just a plain ol mount.I personally always like something a little different, not the same ol thing every time. hanson
You could take them off, they are just pinned through the bodies.I've got to say, my brother has a real talent when it comes to insects. Those are just a couple he has collected over the years.

snowgoose
I don't have any pics of this mount. Old roomate had it done.He had a wood duck house built with a nice male sitting on the roof of the house looking down at the entrance hole. His plan was to get a hen with its head sticking out of the hole. That was a cool looking mount.
hanson
TRM- Those are awesome! The woodie in the 'scene' is very cool and I would pay for that pheasant as well. They are both pretty sweet! Snowgoose- I've thought a lot about the woodie on the duck house mount and I'd like to see a duck house with the hen putting on the brakes when she's coming in. The bird would probably have to be mounted out from the house with a heavy wire but it would look soooo cool! I was just up at our lake cabin and we had a hen hooded merganser on eggs. That duck house was pretty close to the cabin and she kept getting spooked out of it when we were there. But as I was walking around, I caught her about 3 different times flying to the house and putting the flaps down! So cool to see them do that! BTW- Welcome to Fishing Minnesota & HotSpotOutdoors TRM. buzzsaw
I bet you'd have a hard time pulling the trigger if you saw what was behind mama. or not!
hanson
Yep. Just going to have to wait until fall for that one. We've got 5 wood duck boxes up at the lake cabin and there is no way we'd be doing anything to mama and her chicks at this time of year. We would just like to see some wood ducks start using the boxes though. We have been hatching decent numbers of hooded mergansers but its been a few years for the woodies.Funny story though... My mom & dad finally saw the baby mergansers jump out of one of the houses this year. Mom merganser was on the ground and as soon as a bunch of chicks were out, they headed straight to the water and swam away. A few minutes later, a couple more babies hopped out and they were pretty much left behind. They hit the water and then a couple more came. Dad decided he needed to round up the stragglers and paddle them out to the area he saw the mom swim to. Apparently rounding up baby ducklings is tricky. The ones in the water, even though they have never been in the water before, knew how to dive under already. Oh well... We have no idea what happened to them. Rost
I wish I had pics to share. I shot my very first duck when I was 8 years old and it just happened to be a beautiful wood duck. My dad mounted it for me, and the first night we got it back, the cat chewed it up! Dead Kitty!
