soggy Crestliner update!!

Ufatz

Question

As I mentioned in an earlier dispatch, I dropped my soggy Crestliner at the dealer this morning. They said they wanted to have it on hand when they talked to the factory. At least, thats what I thought they said. Told them about all the soggy gear in compartments every time it rained etc.etc. They called me a while ago and said those compartments were never meant to keep water out.

I said, well, what can we do to modifty them so the keep at least SOME water out. The guy said- there is nothing you can do....thats just the way it is.

I said okay, thank you very much. I will pick the boat up tomorrow.

Now you know.

Be watching for the big ugly guy in the maroon metalflake Ranger with the 200 Yammie on it. HA!!

Ufatz,

You can't beat the fit and finish of the Ranger. You will have dry stuff. It is nice to open up the storage after a heavy rain and actually pull out a dry towel or jacket.

I'm not sure about the problems you are having, but my 2004 SportFish has never leaked anything into any of the compartments. May want to contact crestliner yourself and see what the deal is.

Dun recall ever having soggy stuff in my compartments in the Lund Pike 2001 that I got upset about. Usually, it is more like putting my wet raincoat in and after 2 weeks, it is still wet. Will moniter more to see.

I have an 1850 Fishhawk and although I know all the compartments aren't watertight, I've never experienced an episode where there was complete failure either. In mine, which is an '05, there is a designated waterproof compartment right behind the drivers seat which is big enough to fit an extra pair of anything you may want. Hope you get it taken care of.

I know the storage compartments on my Lund Fisherman are not water tight and things will get wet when it rains so I have waterproof gear bags for things that I don't want to get wet - no problem. Oh yeah and the glove box isn't water tight either so I keep manuals and stuff in a little Minnkota waterproof bag.

I have a 2000 1750 FishHawk and the compartments do get wet when it rains. I have always after it rains crack all the compartments open and air them out or the get moldy and mildewy.

It is unfortunate but just looking at the design of the compartment you know they are going to get wet inside. There is no lip to stop it from happening.

I go as far as adding containers of baking soda to keep the mildew down especially when I have the cover on.

I feel your pain. Other then that I love my boat!!
