not_nuf_time
If you get a cigarette adapter with alligator clips for your boat battery, wouldn't you be at risk of damaging the unit if it doesn't have a fuse in line?
0 marine_man
Since I don't have a newer lowrance GPS, does the cigarette adapter plug in (that connects to your GPS) have a fuse in it (sometimes on the side of the plug in, or in a screw in end)? If not, yes, you'll want to use a inline fuse on the aligator clips.I believe most cigarette lighter accessories have a fuse in the plug in... my old one does...marine_man
0 not_nuf_time
Thanks, I thought about that after I wrote that. I'm sure it has a fuse in adapter, but I'll check.

No it would be the same as plugging it into any DC socket.
0 hanson
I ran my H20C like this all winter and into this summer. Its either plugged directly into my cigarette lighter receptacle or I use this adapter w/ clips that I picked up at Fleet Farm. I believe the fuse is in the "male adapter" that comes with the H20C so you should be fine with whatever you plug it into. You can't just hack off the adapter and wire it directly to a battery though without an in-line fuse, that would be flirting with danger.
0 eurolarva
The adaptor that comes with the H2O has a 3 volt regulator on it. If you remove the regulator and run a fused 12 volts to the unit it will smoke and is not covered by the warrenty.
