bgmny
I was looking at updating my GPS to a newer and better model. Considering the age of the one I have now, I was thinking of one in the 100-150 dollar range. After talking to the salesman at Gander Mountain, he had me convinced on the Lowrance H2O. The lakes chip that you can add to it with the 1 foot contours of many lakes seems like the cats meow. Anyone have any comments on this unit? I know it will run a little more, but with the big screen, lakes chip, and other options it just seems like a good buy.
Paul Waldowski
Go to the search function on this site and type in h20 in the subject and body. I gurantee you will spend a couple of hours, at least, reading info on this unit. My best guess is that it has been the top selling GPS unit over the last year. Captain B.R.K
I totally agree with what Paul states! bgmny - I was once a HUGE Garmin guy, never thought I'd switch over to anything else. I worked at a Gander Mountain for years during college and got to play with everything new that came in w/ GPS. Still thought Garmin was the way to go when Magellan or Lowrance came out. Then the hype on a chip that had lake maps and depth contours w/ roadmaps and other information got heavy. I did some homework on the newer GPS models and turned towards the Lowrance units! I have a H20c unit and couldn't be happier!! Don't get me wrong, the Garmin units are nice BUT Lowrance has got all the bells and whistles & the guys at Lowrance really put together a great unit for the $$$! lookin4fish
there is no question in my mind, i have an h20 (now $169), my dad has a $350 Garmin. i wouldt trade him no way... It worth it if you READ THE MANUAL. too many people by the things and dont use them because they get frustrated with them. but if you have used any gps in the past, they are very user friendly! Navionics chip 2006 premium will top off the package!
eurolarva
I got the navionics chip with my H2O and I cant explain how cool it is. I went fishing in Wisconsin today with a friend and both lakes we fished were on the chip. Depths from the H20 pretty much jives with his flasher. We found a point in 15 feet of water and were nailing bass between 3 and 5 lbs all afternoon. The chip comes with 8000 lakes and the detail is amazing. It even shows the warning bouys on South Center lake in the lindstom area.
