This team totally came into this season unprepaired and I think its safe to blame the bum Gardenhire this guy hasnt coached the team all year case in point not bunting the ball down the right base line hittng fly balls with less than 2 outs with guys on third [PoorWordUsage] poor base running the only bright spot on the whole dam team is Castros defense I must say he is the only fun guy to watch heres one vote for the termination of flat tire Gardenhire.

dump in, dump out. But the Twins will be better with a new stadium.

Even J. Jones (choke) might have made this team better although he hasn't shown much in Chicago, including bad fielding and getting doubled off second base two games in a row. The Twins lost a big chance to get better by keeping Hunter, although clearly no one wanted him.

It would seem that Gardy and the coaching staff have lost this team. I'm for inside hiring until it proves unproductive.

Detroit pretty much has the same bunch of clowns as last year yet Leyland, a known screamer, has lit them up and the Tigers are in contention.

Last year when there was no Twins on TV early in the season, we missed that first six weeks of bad baseball. By then, the ChiSox were already in control.

Bunting is only one possible way to score a runner from third. Who was at the plate when this happened? Can you tell me how good of a bunter he is? When there is less then 2 outs a sacrifice fly is as good of a play as any. It is on the hitter for not getting the job done.

The twins have played lousy for the majority of the year with a few exceptions. But I put the blame on the players. If Gardy says go hit a fly ball deep enough to score a man from third a player in the major leagues should be able to get that done. I think that Mitty is all about ragging on the team, if thats what you enjoy by all means have at it but if your best evidence for Gardy doing a bad job is the fact that a player tried to hit a sac. fly instead of a sac. bunt then you need to try a little harder.

Fish I beleive it was rodriquez that couldnt place the bunt properly I have seen the 3rd 4th and 5th hitters come up all year long with guys on third and cant get him in with a basic fly ball to the outfield, and as for the mangager it is his job to motivate the players and prepair them for the season and a game,I have coached my whole life and it does not matter how old the players are they play how they are coached and I think just goes through the motions and doesnt really get em going its not about just ragging on the team I have been a twins fan my whole life I am just saying right now they look pitiful and they need a fire lit under them, whick should have done down in Florida.

I guess I have always been last to criticize the coach on most professional teams. Honestly the players need to start producing, the manager as little to do with that at times. Gardy can't go up there and swing the bat for them. He tells them what to do and as professionals it should be on them to perform. At the pro level motivation should come from the player. If you are making millions of dollars and you can't get motivated to play hard then I don't think the coach should be to blame, that blame should go squarely on the player.

With that said I would place a good amount of blame on Hunter who can't get a hit with runners in scoring position to save his life. Also Mauer as played well except with runners on base, with Stewart and Castillo getting on base as much as they do Mauer should have more RBI's by now.

Morneau also needs to raise the .200 batting average, we need more production out of a frist baseman then that.

Other then the players the only other blame could be put on Carl Pohland for not shelling out the money to sign the players that could really help this team. It looks like the pitching is coming around slowly but we need BATS and we didn't go get any.

Thats exactly my point just because you make millions doesnt mean your a smart athlete pysch has alot to do with coaching do you guys really think they got where they are today because they are geniuss or because they can throw a 99 mph fastball or run a 4.2 40,your right coaches dont swing bats or throw balls but they sure better find a chemistry or ways to motivate their players or they wont be around long.

If a player isn't motivated by winning then I don't want him on my team period.

A coach should not have to motivate a professional athelete to play hard.

Really the Twins problem isn't a matter of motivation or lack of coaching. It is a lack of ability to hit a ball nothing more.

What you are saying is that a coach can simply walk up and motivate a player to start hitting. If that is the case then all I have to do is find the proper motivational coach and then I can try out for the big leagues becuase apparently my whole problem is I just haven't been properly motivated and thats why I can't hit a 93 mph fastball.

Coaches are there for strategy, game planning, saying who's in and who's out, when to sit a pitcher, deciding when to put a pithcer in, telling the players to steal, hit and run, bunt, etc...

I think you are forgetting about all the other jobs a manager or coach does. A major league coach is alot more then a motivational speaker. It seems thats all you think Gardy should be. I still don't see any evidence what so ever that leads me to question the effort the team is putting out. Maybe you thought you were watching the Twins but acutally you have been watching the Royals and you didn't notice.

Fact is sometimes the players just aren't as good as the competition. No one ever admits it but sometimes the home team just isn't that good. We all look for excuses and assign blame to individuals. No fault of the manager the players he was given just can't do what they need to in order to win.

Oh my God, can you believe Gardenhire. He pulled a rookie in his first major league start after close to 100 pitches and went to his bullpen that has held 14 of 14 leads after that point of the game. Besides he also took the bat right out of Boof's hands by not letting him hit one more time with runners on base. confused.gif

Oh, by the way, if you are wondering, that is my weak attempt at sarcasm. wink.gif

Mitty is about as fairweathered as it gets. He is the first to criticize, and the last, or I should the only one that never gives credit where credit is due. And its been hard to give credit to anything Twins related this year but cmon.

Mitty could probably find something to complain about in a PERFECT Game no-hitter.

Your always willing to jump all over radke when he loses a game, but never willing to give him credit for a win and he does have 4 of those this year, more than any other starter on the team except Santana who only has 4 as well.

You were all over Hunter for his slow start, but he turned it around.

You always assume the worst and expect the least. I keep trying to understand how you call yourself a Twins fan.

Yeah they arent playing great ball but a REAL fan wouldnt jump ship.

nofisherman, maybe you should change the name in your quote from MR.Madison to......Mitty tongue.gif
