Chad Halvorson
Does anyone have one for lead core? I cant seem to find one that you reel with your left hand. That being said, how many other right handed people reel with their left hand. It just doesnt feel right to me to use my right hand to reel, anyways. Shimano Makes a very nice one I think its called the Tekota 6000, but its only left handed I believe. Thanks, Chad.
Northlander
Im in the same boat you are. The Shimanos are very nice but very expensive. Im just using the right handed trolling reels and getting more and more comfortable with them.Diawa Sealines are the way to go.
hanson
I feel for ya.I've always used spinning reels for everything and cranked with my left hand. Now I've been getting more and more into catfishing and have switched up to a number of 6500 & 7000 series Garcia levelwinds. It took a few days to get used to cranking with my right hand but now it feels totally normal. I don't know, I say give the right handers a shot. You may like it.
stmichael
My friends call me wierd for reeling with my right hand? I am right handed (as well as they are) but, what goes into determining what hand you reel with? I cast with the right as well. It feels extremely awkward to reel left handed. I look at it as my right hand is doing the work by reeling left hand is just there to hold the rod. You do not need coordination in holding the rod, at least, compared to reeling?I have noticed that when going to buy a bait caster they will grab a left handed reel, then I get a strange look when I ask for a right handed. fiskyknut
Cabelas makes left handed versions of their linecounting reels. I crank lefty too for the most part. Seems lots of folks cast, hold rod, jig, set hook, and what have you with their right arm, and then have to switch rod to left arm to crank? Plain goofy! fiskyknut
ScottND
I'm a righty that cranks lefty too. Thought it was a waste of time switching rod from one side to the other when I started casting cranks for walleyes in Devils Lake 30 yrs. ago. No complaints and can usually find great discounts on the reels. I saw the Cabelas lefty line counters too. $59 I think.

riverrat56
I've always reeled left handed with spinning and right with casting, I've got friends that reel righty with spinning rods but they always are switching hands. The reason I reel left handed is you fight the fish with your rod, the reel just takes up line. But after awhile either way can work.
Bigsmitty
I have always used my right hand for casting and the left for reeling. Any other way seems awkward. Always had trouble finding a left hand retrieve level wind with a line counter though. Bought a rapala line counter a few years ago and it works great!
