fish2live
i don't believe there are any warnings about the fish from lake pepin, i eat fish from pool 4 all the time and i don't glow yet so a few fish won't hurt you.
caseymcq
Check the MN DNR's Lake Finder. They hae a comsumption advisory for a lot of lakes. I am not sure if Pepin has any info but it might be worth a look. The MN Department of health has a general advisory which offers guidelines for pregnant women, women who may become pregnant and children under 15 on how many meals of fish they can have based on type of fish and size in a specific time frame. It is interesting and worth a look. Minnesota DNR Lake Finder Minnesota Deparment of Health Fish Comsumption Safe Eating Guidelines

danfall
It isn't scary at all. Consider eating store bought fish or shrimp. Unless it says wild caught its been farmed. Farmed fishes are full of antibiotics and chemicals that allow them to be farmed in close quarters to each other without widespread disease. Farmed fishes result in huge red algae blooms in the oceans, which today has mostly unknown impacts, but at some point may end up being quite bad. Countries that regulate have significantly less red algae blooms in their ocean waters than those that don't. So there are environmental concerns related to fish farming as well as health concerns unspoken. The fact that those products don't have warnings doesn't mean much, other than that MN DNR is a responsible government agency.Based on the information I've read about fish and shrimp farming in the world, I'm sticking with my own wild catches and remember, most of the smaller eating size fishes have almost zero pollutants. If you are worried about it, don't eat 10 pounders, put them on the wall.

Ritz
Why eat the fishes from a dirty lake such as Lake Pepin, when you can easily eat the fishes from a MUCH CLEANER lake from Northern Minnesota???...... Yes, there are lots of cleaner lakes in Minnesota... Check the DNR consumption guide if in doubt!
lars0926
I'd probably not eat anything out of there (execept for the Bull sharks, which are VERY tasty.) VISIT THE STORY ON PEPIN SHARKS
The Grebe
I like fish, no doubt, eat em all the time....but weither they say they are safe or not, anything south of Monticello on down, doesn't get et! I used to eat fish out of the old Miss, south of the cities in times past, not often, once in awhile, but I developed a third ear on the back of my head, which I keep covered up with my hair, which I might add, is in the process of giving up and when the troops fall back to the area of the third ear, I'm going to have to buy some of that Ron Poppeal spray on hair to hide it! I think it's from them fish! I don't even fish that area anymore. I know areas on the river from times past, areas nearby the city, where I can go and catch walleyes, white bass, huge crappies, cats, pike, all kinds of stuff, but alot of them turn up being odd from all the junk that goes into the water from the north, on through the twin cities. For instance I caught catfish that barked like dogs! Others that I put down on the river bank and they walked away on their hind legs! I caught crappies that were regular colored, but had to many spots on them? I looked closer and the spots started blinking at me! They were eyes! There were walleyes that had the white spot not on the tail, where it is supposed to be, but right in the middle of their two heads! The white bass were brown, the smallmouths had gobs like a gator, and the pike had big rubbery lips and hit on doughballs? Nah, I found out from a friend that if you look at me with a night vision scope, which he did, my eyes glow and there is kind of a pulsating, rose colored aura around me! In the summer I get headaches when the temp hits the high 90's and in the winter, my big toes swell up and my feet feel really heavy? Unless the temp stays above zero...then my knees ache? Geiger counters act kinda funny when I'm around also? Nope, I can't imagine how all the junk from up here can go into the water, along with everything in between, including farm run off and not end up in Lake Peppin? My uncle used to commercial fish Peppin out of Reads Landing, back in the day, but he gave it up after his hipboots started to melt off to often! My advice, go to Red Lobster, Long John Silvers, or the Crab Shack!
