After reading some of these replies, I wonder if some of you actually follow nascar or just like to put your two cents worth in. I myself have nothing against any driver in nascar or any other motor sport. They are all talented or they wouldn't be driving. Why is it people have to bash other people's favorites? Limit, your reply was well put. I am a diehard nascar fan and don't usually miss a lap in a single race. I use to enjoy posting and replying on this forum, but almost everytime I visit it there is negativity. Come on people, if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.

I wasn't bashing anybodys favorite. He wasn't mine so I will choose not to follow. The only problem I have with the whole Ernhardt thing is the blind following that has developed. You loved him for his driving style but in the same breath chastise Kurt Busch for his style but they are the same. Thats just hypocritical and that's what starts the burn for me.

Go ahead and cheer for the 8 this weekend and have the tribute. I'm sure we will hear about it 179 times during the race. Maybe next week we can have one for Kulwicki where all the cars are white and the drivers are all college educated. Then the week after we can have all black cars again for Davey Allison. Then red cars for Tim Richmond. Maybe blue cars for Mark Martins dad after that. Maybe aluminum colored cars for those two morons that electrocuted themselves last weekend too.

And lets not forget to have some more tributes for the Hendrick team people that went down on the plane. I'm sure you all will join up in that. Randy Dorton did more for the sport than just build engines.

I enjoy the verbal tossling "Gordon Sucks" "Jr Overrated" "Kurt Busch is a bum" "Mikey talks to much" This is what makes it fun. If nobody ripped drivers, how much fun would that be. I always get ripped for rootin for the NapaAaronsDominos Dodge. (You guys wait till Toyota Payback is comin) One can only talk so much bout aero, track types so on and on.

It doesnt look like it. I wish they would have done this last year. They could have hired worthless Steve Park to drive the #1. Jr #8 Mikey #15 Park #1 just like the orig.

Ever hear of the "Polish Victory Lap"?? That happens almost every race, made famous by Kulwicki.

If those teams want to get together and do something special and their sponsors are behind it like DEI's are, then all the power to them. I say go for it. Yeah, I'm sure it'll get old hearing about it time and time again during the weekend since the announcers just love filler such as this, but the majority aren't going to care in this case......I think I'm fairly safe with that assumption.

The mention in the post above about a blue-collar driver for the blue-collar fan is right on and is the big factor in the difference between the comparison of Dale Sr. and Busch. The good ol' boys are almost all but gone now.

You know, I've been watching this sport for about 20 years now and never really got suckered into being a Dale Sr. fan.

I love Chevy's and used to be a GM tech when I got out of the service. You would think that I should have been a fan of his. I guess what has really set me off the last 6 years or so is that since the sport has become more popular with all these new fans they have really dumbed the comentating down, and the media seems to have picked Jr. to be the spokesperson. They (the media) created some whirlwind that sucked all these new fans into Dale Jr's camp and that seems to be all I hear is Jr this and Jr that.

As hard as you guys fight for him (Jr. or Sr.) I feel I have to fight harder against you guys to ballance it out. Yes, I know it's a personallity flaw.

I know Jr. didn't ask to be the son of a famous racecar driver and probably donsen't really care for all the attention he gets. It's the media that keeps jamming this dump down my ears and I don't like it. That is why I record the races and watch them later in the day. I would like to ask you E fans a question. If Jr. didn't race who would you cheer for now?

I don't mean to upset anybody, I just have issues with blind followship (IE: My driver is the best because I say so and his son is the next great thing and I'll follow him too). I also have issues when people use words like "best" when talking about Sr. because statistically, the finger points to Gordon as the "best" stock car driver and Ayerton Senna as the best race car driver.

Anyways, I was wondering if everyone was on Prozac around here lately, it's been pretty quiet until this.

Kurt Busch can not even be considered in the same class as Sr.What has Kurt done to even have his name mentioned in the same sentence as Sr.That is a stretch and I hope mnguy you really know the difference or for the 20 years you have been watching racing you have not really been watching.

Also,when Gordon has won 7 championships and done for Nascar what Sr. did then you can also compare them to.

As far as who I would watch if Jr was gone I dont know as when Sr died I didnt really care if I ever watched another cup race.I was never suckered into cheering for Sr.

Also,I have never though that Jr was the greatest driver around,I just like to cheer for him.If I had to cheer for ears,I would quit watching.

You can have Busch,Gordo,Johnson and the majority of the rest of the drivers.None of them will ever do what Sr. did for the sport.

And back to the orginal post,nice cars.Its funny how some cannot deal with the Earnhardts.I gues he intimidated more people off the track than on the track.

I never said that Busch was a good as Ernhardt, I only said the driving style was the same and that that is what many fans liked about the Sr. Ernhardt. Logic says that if you like that driving style from one driver they you should be OK with that style from the other drivers, right? Or is there a double standard here when it comes to Ernhardt fans?

I personally think Kurt Busch is a loud mouth punk but his driving style is the same as the black 3. I do think that this cat can drive and he is not done winning championships yet. He won't get 7 but he'll get more when he is with Toyota. (I believe he will be one of the jumpers in a few years, all for the money, again.)

Lets not forget that Ernhardt is not the only man with 7 championships.

Perch, I know what direction the sport is headed, it used to be a "gearhead" sport and the telecast where geared for those people, now it's a marketers dream and a "Jr. army" and a "young guns field" and they have these new people suckered into purchasing all the new hats, replicas and so on. Why do you think they run these special paint schemes? It's to sell more dump out of the venders trucks. I personally found the racing better 10-20 years ago than it is now. The cars where better and the drivers where too. I hope the COT helps that. The sport today is more about marketing than racing. In fact, some media people are calling it "sport entertainment" (Like WWE wrestling) not a "sport" anymore. Don't get me wrong, I like watching it and all the drama that goes along with it but when the media and new fan base forced the owners to pick their drivers on how they looked vs. how they drove, that's when things really started to go downhill.

Back to the original thread.

The DEI cars are going to look real nice, and we will see them alot if they are up front or not.

Guy's when I first posted this it was more of a "NEWS" thing. I did'nt figure that we would get back to the OLD my driver is better then your driver. But we have gone back to that, This sport is so different then any other. You have the car owners, the manufatures, the drivers ,the sponsors, is there another sport that you have such a influnce of differnt things that make up a TEAM.

There have been a few post's about how this forum has been stale or still,I've even heard boring.

The "OLD SCHOOL" way this forum used to be was fun, it was nice to pick on each other. There has to be some line drawn that we can still do that but still respect the other people that visit this forum. I have met a few of you, you all seem to be nice people.

In Rick's wisdom he has asked that I look over this forum. That does'nt make me anymore of a expert then anyone eles here. In fact I know there are people here that know way more then I do. When I see news or something that I think other people would like to see I do my best to post it. Otherwise you ALL do a great job of posting. I would hope that you all keep it up.

The" moto" if you will of FISHING MINNESOTA is "WE HAVE MORE FUN". Lets do are best to make sure we are all doing that.

There is sort of a team that has developed here and I think it is a good one lets keep it going.

There my fingers are tired.

This is what I enjoy about this forum. There is so much freedom here. Our Mod lets things go. In other forums, if someone says something wrong or whatever it gets locked. I understand its Ricks Baby, but Here we can rip each other and nobody takes it personal. We kind of police it ourselves.

I think we should vote to change Sifty's name to "Stiffy"

It sounds similar but is a better name.

One has to remember its Siftys job to keep this forum in line.At times we will all agree that it gets close to locking the thread.

Everyone has their fun,but sometimes things do go to the edge.If anyone of us were in charge of this forum,would we let it go as far as Sifty does? Last night when I was reading the posts I personally thought that if I were the moderator of this forum,I may have locked it .

Lets all give Sifty the credit and respect he deserves for doing the great job that he does in letting us take this forum sometimes farther than most moderators would.

I think just maybe we all need to have a little more respect for each others posts and that also includes myself.
