Tyler Holm
Which slough ended up with the name haugh? If you don't wish to share, thats fine because I haven't heard any reports from any of the sloughs in the area. Just though I would ask for my own knowledge
PERCHJR
Hey Tyler, the Haugh slough I know of is the one by Roslyn, I believe it is the one they opened up on Jan 1st of this year, for its perch and eye's!!! If you would like directions let me know, email me at [email protected]!!! GOOD LUCK AND GOOD FISHING!!!
32 degrees
I believe its Hauge(?). South of Opitz. Have not heard a thing. With all the walleyes in there (supposedly) you would think some kind of bite would be going soon.
Tyler Holm
Thank you, I knew of the slough, but hadn't heard the name yet.

verg
this slough has little to offer. used it to raise wallys. Perch are mostly fish out already, not great numbers of wallys left.
gorrilla
verg, is that what you call a local detouring traffic elsewhere????
percherman
Verg: Do you know when it was stocked, and when it became public knowledge?ThanksDean
Take 'Em
verg, they must really be bitting on haugh because i know for a fact that slough is loaded with very nice eyes, thanks for the report
PERCHJR
Thanks verg, for the local info!!! That's really to bad that there are no fish left in that lake!!! Maybe people will have to look elsewhere for fishing? It really looks like the NE lakes can't take the pressure they are getting. GOOD LUCK AND GOOD FISHING!!! bnbrk94
I would rather listen to a local then someone from outside the area that just might have heard that it is loaded with walleyes or the fishing has been great. That slough was hit so hard this winter it is amazing there is anything left in it. Gas is almost 3 bucks a gallon so it might be worth the drive up there to see if the local is trying to detour traffic! Good Luck.
bnbrk94
PerchJr, did you get a job with the RR? I heard you applied. Let me know! Swamp
verg
Hey take em...go fish fish it and see how many nice eyes you catch. It is a real small slough, more like a duck pond. Pressure this winter was insane. they took as many wallys out as they could for stocking etc. Of course you could catch fish in it but what i was saying is that it is not worth your drive to fish. But, put your "gas" money where your mouth is and find out for yourself.
verg
perchman,i'm not sure when it was first stocked but it just opened this winter. For the first two weeks guys really nailed the perch and some eyes. As time went on, it wasn't any good. there are a couple more real good rearing ponds opening up this summer--but for the life of me i can't remember where? cold one sd
Hauge was pounded to death all winter, but there may be a couple fish left in it and that would be bad. We need another dead sea here.
Tyler Holm
I honestly don't think verg is trying to pull the wool over anybodies eyes on this matter. I've had buddies fish it in late Jan and Feb and caught very little. Everybody on the ice was telling them the same exact thing.. "You should have been here 3 weeks ago!" The other thing to think about here, is how big is a big fish in there, and how badly do you want to catch a fish that size. For the fish in my avatar I fished for 6 full hours and only caught 1 fish. I call that a successful trip! Some wouldn't.
verg
one last note on that slough, they opened it up cuz they were afraid it was going to dry up or freeze out. figured may as well let fisherman take the fish--and we did. If you are looking for really big eyes, this isn't the spot. It has some in the 4-6 lb not really anything over..and not a whole lot of those either. As you see i live here and fish these waters 2-3 times a week. I'm not going to talk you but i'm also not going to give out my honey holes either. percherman
Verg: Thanks for the info. As for me I will stick to my old haunts, I know I can catch them there. It's good to have a local on board. Keep sharing your knowledge.Dean
PERCHJR
Hey verg, my comment was a joke sorry man, It was intended for um.......well anyways thanks for the good info and please keep it up!!! I fished Hauge a couple times this year and caught alot of perch but no eyes, so like you said there really isn't that many in there!!! And I was trying to make a point that the NE lakes CANNOT take the fishing pressure they are getting and soon everyone....... will be fishing other lakes, and soon there won't be anything left!!! GOOD LUCK AND GOOD FISHING!!!

gorrilla
I guess people can't hear our joking tone or playful sarcasm through the keyboard very well... Anyway, my local Webster sources tell me similar to whats being told hear. Hauge Slough was POUNDED quickly like so many of the little honey holes are and quickly went down hill. The one I haven't followed up on is the Rearing Pond by Roslyn and thats what I was curious about... What I find often in my many trips to the region is a very high animosity towards us MN guys and "how we wreck every spot within a year". In reality what I see is a whole lot of local hammering away at some of the hidden gems until the bite slows or quits. Now I'm not saying all MN guys or all locals are the same, but lots of the SD plates actually seem to be from Sioux Falls so they aren't even locals in my mind. Anyway my point, if there is any, is that I really value and enjoy my trips into the beautiful glacial lakes region and keep only enough for a meal and maybe half my possesion limit for the return trip home since I live in the Brainerd Lakes are and don't need the fillets, but do enjoy the 100 fish days alot... bnbrk94
Congrats on the new job jr. Hope you like it. Just have to get used to the hours. But now you will probably have more time on the lake. Later, Swamp
verg
the roslyn slough isn't open yet..when it is, i'm sure it won't last long. I would have to yes there is some grudges towards out of staters. Prime example: lynn lake-last summer between june and july there was 54 busts for double dippers. 42 of them from minnesota. i made a couple hundred dollars calling tips when i was on the water on waubay. In truth, i personally don't mind too much cuz there is a lot of water here, just take care of our natural resources so everyone can have a chance, thats all. i know not everyone is like this-wish we could weed out the bad ones. No offense intended.

(South Dakota conversion) "HEY BOTH YOUR BOBBERS ARE DOWN!!!!!" I understand where you are coming from. No one minds most of our guest fishermen that come to the NE region of SD. The ones that get people going are the people that get caught on the way back home with 80 Walleyes or 240 Perch over the limit. There are people here that double and triple dip also. I think more and more people are using a cell to call the TIPS hotline. We are really lucky to have the fishing that we have and don't want to see it go away any time soon That means doing what you say and keep some for a meal and C&R the rest.
