bmc2b
I fish alone quite a bit, and sometimes have trouble loading my boat on my own (1700 fisherman). Do side guide bunks make a big difference or not? If so, full size, or mini bunks? Thanks.

Genofish
I have a 17'Lund with a roller trailer. I put the single bunks on(24") this made it easier to load by myself.
Wiskers
Well I can tell ya that the last two boats I had were on Bunk tralilers. That is the only way I would go. I can load and unload with the greatest of ease and never worry about the boat rolling off the trailer. I can run onto the bunks and then just pull it out of the water and it will not slide off with out hooking up the straps. As for Side bunks or rollers eithe way works for me. They help a ton.I go out most of the time alone prefishing and the bunks have saved me a lot of worry and work. When I unload, I just put the bow rope in the front gator with about 20 feet of slack on the front of the boat then I have a loop on the end of the rope. This I hook over the crak on the trailer. I just back up so the boat slides off the trailer and then slowly pull out until the boat rests on shore then unhook the rope.
Cliff Wagenbach
Wiskers, I once saw a guy try to back down a loading ramp after unhooking his boat from the safty chain and crank rope. He got about half way down the ramp and his boat slid off of the trailer bunks right onto the concrete ramp. Wrecked his prop and skeg and really scuffed up the bottom of his boat! I was guilty of unloading the exact same way you do until I saw that! Cliff
Bobby Bass
Another vote for the trailer bunks. I to fish a lot alone and in some inclement weather. Having the side bunkers and also adding teflon pads to my pads makes loading and unloading a snap. And since I am getting a tad older the boat ain't getting any lighter or easier to handle in the chop..
1DIRTBALL
If your boat trailer has carpeted bunks, give them a good spraying with silicone spray, which you can get at almost any auto parts store. Your boat will then launch and recover like it was on hot butter! 1DIRTBALL
