The most efficient spot would be by the tank because you're pushing the fuel instead of trying to suck it that far.

However, I'd put it by the motor and deal with the slightly less efficiency in pulling the fuel to save on convenience... you should be just fine... it might take another squeeze, but in the long run it'll probably be worth it instead of having to walk to the front, squeeze, then walk to the back.

thanks for the input guys, i've actually had problems with the motor, the carb gums up from one year to the next, any suggestions, I don't run rich gas, and should I be using 87 or 91 octane, does it make a differance?

I don;t use the ethonol blend, I beleive it evorates faster and gums up, the carb. use the gas made for old cars, marked no ethonol. I also put the recomended rate of seafoam in the fuel, seafoam will clean carbs and stablize the fuel at the same time

The primer bulb is not Coast Gaurd rated so it should only be mounted in the splashwell. That way if it leaks it doess not drain into the bottom and create a fire hazard. If an open boat it should not matter, but check first.
