Ice Going Out Quickly - Pics

Now that was very cool! I bet a lot of people didn't know that it happened that fast. It sinks right? It gets so saturated and heavy that it goes under the surface?

That is pretty cool to see. Not living on a lake, I just assumed someone came in, picked up the sheet of ice and we were ready for open water Okay, I'm kidding.

I think the wind just blew the last sheet of ice from left to right out of the frame. Look at the flag. The last of the ice should be gone soon.

Man when I was a kid I used to think the ice sank to the bottom of the lake (because of the thermocline) now I am sure I WAS RIGHT!!

It just turns into slush & disappears as far as I know. I went out on a small lake in the boat once, that had about a third of the lake still with ice on it. We were messing around fishing & kind of watching it shrink & then forgot about it & we actually drifted right through it. We were out 1-2 hours that time & it was gone. I would imagine the temperature of the day would help determine how fast the last of it disappeared.
