bggreen82,

I used them for the first time last year and they worked pretty well. I'm going to use them more this year. Check out the post a few spots down on the walleye page titled 'Swimbaits'. That's the category the mimic minnows fall under. You'll get more info there.

Regards,

I like for shorecasting or fishing rivers, they seem to produce in creeks and other areas, also they give off lots of thump and flash in dark or stained water, for vertical jigging I prefer live bait so the mimic minnow gets shunned as a minnow makes the presentation to bulky, IMO.

I have good luck with these in the 1/4 oz size casting and retrieving near weed edges. Just cast it out and let it fall, snap it off the weeds and reel up the slack and let it sink again. These will make your rod tip vibrate on a straight retrieve, they thump so hard. The Goldfish/orange color is my favorite. These are my best swim baits so far.

I like the Mimic Minnow because it has such a cool name.

A buddy kept calling out "Mimic Minnow!!!!!" as he was casting it one day. Now, anytime I see one, I can't help but to do the same.

I'll put one on and troll with it, just make sure the color is right and the jig head is heavy enough. I love the mimic minnow and use it all the time w/very good results. I'm going to try casting them more this year. My only complaint is the hooks are pretty weak, a big fish or lots of weeds tend to straighten them out. Give 'em a shot, they're cheap enough and they work.
