Two screens?

MJBo

Question

I've got an LMS-332C in my console and would love to have one on the bow but thats kinda cost prohibitive. Is there any way to mirror the screen in my console onto a screen on the bow without buying a whole LMS-332 unit? Seems like there should be just a cheapo LCD screen that I could split the signal to.

That's to good of an idea to work. The sonar companies wouldn't make as much money. Of course if you were in the bow using readings from a transome mounted transducer you would be looking at a history of the bottom instead of the bottom in real time.

Nope, not doable. If you look at the higher end systems you'll find networks that can handle multiple head units and some head units that have remote monitors. For fun and games check out www.northstarcmc.com or the higher end systems from Raymarine (H6 or E series). I would be very interested if some of this technology would make it down to the small water crowd. Personally, I would like three displays (console, bow, stern) that I could select the functions to display and wire the modules under the dash. Some of the Navionics gear is starting to get there but they're not there yet.

I believe it's called "sucking our blood"

I find very hard to believe in these days where networking and computer technology has become so popular and economical we have to spend this much money for technology that is 10 years behind.

It will not take much to have a nice setup, but since we are willing to spend twice as much money for a small screen than for a whole computer, all sonar manufacturers will always drag their feet.

I wish I knew more about electronics and a little programming, I would setup myself with a heck of a nice setup.

Right on the money Valv. The manufacturers know that we will PAY for the convenience. They could easily come out with a simple monitor to display exactly what the master unit does, but then we would have them all over our boat. Then, when our boats feel more like our offices, fishing wouldn't be fun anymore. grin.gif

I'd give them 150$ for the darn thing, plus if Hummingbird or someone else would have advertised the tech. when I was buying I would have gone with that brand. Seems like a no brainer.......

Why not just get a mount, power and ducer run to the the front, and have it on a quick disconnect (like a jonny ray or similar). When you are on the bow just move your head unit. When back under way, put it back on the console. A little extra work, but cheaper than a whole new unit. crazy.gif
