Found : Moose Skull

Recommended Posts

A couple of rifle seasons ago I had found a 48" bull moose skull while making a drive and have kept it in the garage since then.

Is there anything one can do to clean it up/bleach it?

What else would someone suggest to do with it?

I have taken Buffalo heads and put them on Ant piles for a month and they realy clean off any meat that is left. I don't know what to do as far as bleaching them out. caj

Kind of unrelated, but while duck hunting out of a canoe a couple years ago up north I saw a bone sticking up out of a wild rice filled stream, I yanked on it and an entire pelvic region of a moose was connected. Kinda neat, have it up at the cabin.

I bleached out a coyote skull a few years ago by putting it in a 2 gal bucket of water and adding around 1/2 cup of chlorine bleach to it. I soaked it for 3 or 4 days. Worked great! Still looks good yet! grin.gif The skull was already void of hair, meat ect. when I bleached it.

You may want to try to avoid getting the horns in the solution though!
