seen a buck today!

Recommended Posts

Thats right! I was out snowmobiling today just north of Williams MN, I was last in line of 4 riders, 3 deer crossed the trail in front of us about 100 yards from the lead sled and I looked to my left there stood 2 more deer about 70-80 yards away. The one time I forgot to take my camera along and never fails. I never seen antlers on a deer this late in the winter until today. The buck was about 6 pt or maybe a small 8 pt. And no I didnt get too much exhaust fumes so I know what I saw. Anyone else ever seen deer with their antlers this late? I seen them come off as early as Dec 6th one year but I thought it was too cool to see one with antlers on March 20th. The antlers looked pretty white. By the way way the trails are still pretty good up here. We put on 60 miles or so. Hope I remember to take my camera next time! Brian

Last year while yote hunting in Buffalo Co there was a group of 4 bucks all with antlers yet - six and small 8's, and later in the day a lone, big 10pt. Talk about bleach white antlers. Was the tail end of March.

Had to dispatch a buck last night at work... Nice 5X5, where one antler was knocked off during the accident, but the other was still attached... Until I took it off to have a matching set... Very bleached out as well..

Saw 4 bucks in the last week, three of them still had both sides, one had only one side. Also found a shed on sunday that still had blood on the pedicle. Seems like a lot of deer held their antlers late this year.

OK so I thought that if I mentioned seeing one in April you would all call me goofy,so checked with my local shed antlered guru and he stated that dear dont lose there antlers all the time .Probaly one in a million but says hes watched one that never shed.He doesnt hunt but shed hunts and lives in a state park area and it seems a guy with over two hundred sheds would like to here more on this as besides me mentioning my sighting of an April buck he wasnt going to come out of the closet on his sighting. thanks wink.gifbig drift I saw the buck I am referring to in the area 15 miles west of bemidji this past sunday afternoon and again monday at supper time.got a kick out of buying gas at the rackaholics station.
